ADDING FULLNESS

Welcome to FEBRUARY sew friends..

I am now a new fan of Her Network and I have decided to share these strong words from them on the last slide..so inspiring..

Let’s get to the deal for the day which is adding fullness…

There are other ways to add fullness to your pattern and one of it is what I have captured in the picture below.

This is suitable for your panel blouses or skirts. The simple thing to do is to add as much as your fabric can contain.

This is just the basic knowledge of it which makes the application of it easy..

HOW TO FIX MACHINE NEEDLE

Just because I am a fashion tutor that is so passionate about the basics and foundation of fashion designing..

One of the struggles as a beginner is fixing the sewing needle.. that struggle is tough..

The repercussions of getting it wrong is irregular stitches, noisy sewing, needle breakage etc sometimes the fabric gets torn..

LETS LEARN HOW TO FIX THE NEEDLE
The need has its right and wrong side(are you just hearing this?)
Picture 2 is the right side while picture 1 is the wrong side..

Fix your needle with the right part of the needle facing the inside of the machine while the wrong side facing the other side.

Cheat code I use is that I try it both sides and then settle for the one that gives me what I want. 😂😂

The last picture(from Pinterest Ofcourse)is showing to tell us PARTS OF THE NEEDLE just like you all know parts of your body..

‼️HOW TO TRACE YOUR STONE BOARD TO PATTERN ‼️

You must have seen designs like the last picture I shared and wonder how it is achieved.

Just in few steps let’s do it together..

📌 get your desired stone board design like picture 1.

📌 be skillful and trace out the shape from the board to the pattern paper like pictures 2-4

📌I don’t want this design to have a joining on the shoulder so I drafted the back neckline together with the front in picture 5

📌 it then becomes easy to transfer the pattern to fabric after I have altered it to suit my purpose in pictures 6

📌 this is the facing that will bear the stone design.

As simple as it looks, it’s technical and requires a lot of intentionality.

Another simple yet magical tool is the PIN CUSHION.

Draping is the trend in fashion these days and there’s no how you want to achieve that without pins.

A Sew sister Comfort' Dexterity gifted me this measurement book few months back and I thought to share with you all the essence of it..

Your measurements book is a POWERFUL TOOL.
If you intentionally or unintentionally forget to take certain measurements of your client, you will know how painful it is when you get to drafting/cutting.

This measurement book is an automatic reminder of the measurements you should take.
Depending on the style you want to make, you might need more measurements but on the average, with this you have the basic measurements.

AFFORDABLE SEWING TOOLS YOU SHOULD GET

I am so particular about sewing tools and their durability. It’s not too good to consistently change a particular tool especially that you cannot do without.

An example is THE TAPE RULE(TAPE MEASURE)

If you are familiar with the common tape rule you will understand how bad it goes after a period of time due to use. Sometimes, it tears off or the shape is distorted. I usually get the pack of this tape rule so I can change it when it gets bad.

Later, I got this tape measure( in the second picture), it’s so durable and the calibration is more detailed but it was in a casing.. Dragging the tape rule out of the casing was a big deal for me so I just put it up and use it occasionally especially because it looks sophisticated.

Recently, I go the same tape rule and this time without a casing.

📌It’s durable Ofcourse from the feel of it, you can tell it’s if a better quality.
