PRESIDENT MORSI’S SON: THE WONDERS WE SAW DURING OUR FATHER’S JANAZAH
In an article published on Egyptian News Website ‘Masralnaharda ’, Abdullah Mohamad Morsi, the son of late President Mohamed Morsi, reveals some of the fascinating experiences that unfolded when washing and burying his father.
On the 17 th of June 2019, President Mohamed Morsi passed away during a ‘court’ hearing after severe medical neglect on part of the Egyptian coup authorities. Relating the fascinating story of his funeral procession, Abdullah wrote: [1]
“We, the family of the martyr President Mohamed Morsi, bring you some of the good signs during our final glances as we bid farewell to his honoured body to its final destination. What remains is his soul, actions, and reputation, for as long as Allāh decrees through those remembering him and making
duʿā’ for him.
We leant him our final glances at the hospital of Turra Prison before washing, shrouding, praying over him, and then burying him. May Allāh shower his mercy upon him and accept him as one of his righteous martyrs.
All four of his sons entered upon our martyred father, including Osama Morsi – who is still detained over sham accusations – as well as his brother al-Sayyid Morsi and his wife. With us were a large number of representatives of the military coup. Upon entering, we found our father’s face very different to what we were used to. He looked extremely frustrated and uneasy. We prevented the personnel representing the coup to enter his wash room. After having locked the door, we glanced at the martyr president again who just appeared to be frowning and agitated, now looking serene and composed.
We began by making duʿā’ for him and kissed him farewell. His face came to life with visible light and a palpable smile. We were all entirely perplexed at what we saw. His face was completely different to when the criminals from the military junta were with us! This was not a miracle, but some of our Lord’s glad signs gifted to us.
