YOU SCORED 140+ in JAMB. HERE'S WHY YOU SHOULD NOT PANIC

Dear Student, if you recently checked your JAMB result and saw 140, take a deep breath. I have guided thousands of candidates through Nigeria admission process, and I can assure you that this score does not close the door to tertiary education. Admission in Nigeria is not solely about hitting a high number. It is about strategy, timing, and making informed choices. With the right approach, you can still secure admission this academic session.

Before you make any hasty decisions, understand that several tertiary institutions across Nigeria regularly consider candidates who score 140 and above. The key lies in matching your score with the right institution and programme. For universities, you may consider state and private institutions such as Ogun State University, Kogi State University, Abia State University, Rivers State University, Achievers University, and Crawford University, which have historically maintained flexible admission thresholds. In the polytechnic sector, institutions like Federal Polytechnic Offa, The Polytechnic Ibadan, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, and Yaba College of Technology routinely accept 140 for National Diploma programmes. Similarly, numerous Colleges of Education such as Federal College of Education Zaria, Adeyemi College of Education Ondo, and Alvan Ikoku College of Education consistently consider 140 for Nigeria Certificate in Education admission. Please note that these are general observations based on recent admission cycles, and actual cut offs vary by institution, faculty, and yearly policy.

You must also recognize that highly competitive courses such as Medicine, Law, Engineering, Pharmacy, and Accounting typically require scores well above 140. Institutions set internal thresholds based on applicant volume and programme capacity. This does not mean you should abandon your academic goals. It simply means you may need to pivot slightly to align your ambition with reality.

HERE'S WHAT YOU SHOULD DO NEXT.
Log in to your JAMB CAPS portal and initiate a change of course or change of institution if your current selection is overly competitive. Choose programmes that match your subject combination and historical cut off trends. Begin preparing for Post UTME or institutional screening exams immediately. Review your O Level, practice past questions, and focus on speed and accuracy. Many institutions weigh Post UTME scores heavily, and a strong performance can significantly compensate for a moderate JAMB score. Monitor official admission deadlines closely. JAMB regularization, change of course windows, and screening registration dates are strictly enforced. Missing a deadline by even twenty four hours can cost you admission for the entire session.

Do not let a single number define your academic future. Thousands of students with scores around 140 gain admission every year by making smart, timely, and well researched decisions. I am here to help you navigate this process with clarity and confidence.

Please drop a comment below with your exact JAMB score, your preferred course, and the school you wish to attend. I will review your details and provide personalized guidance on the best pathway to secure your admission. Let us take this step together.

JAMBITES,the moment you’ve been working so hard for is finally HERE.This are the few things I have to tell you.

1. Be calming down oh
Panic will be your worst enemy in that hall. You’ve prepared for this, so no need to fear trust yourself Jhoor.

2. Know the CBT Format.
Wait oh! I hope You’re not planning to enter that exam hall without first practicing on a computer, abi? You must know how to navigate the system, like how to skip, return, and submit. If you don’t, you will waste valuable time calling invigilators for things you should already know. If you’ve never practiced before, rush to the nearest cyber café NOW and practice, except you already know your ways around computer.

3. Outsmart the Time .
Don’t get stuck on one question. If it’s hard, SKIP it and move on to the ones you are sure of. You can come back to it later. Time waits for nobody shaaa.

4. Be Early.
Arrive at your exam center at least 1 hour before your time. If you are late, forget it,you will be scattered, disorganized and your brain fit Jam sef.

5. Read Instructions Carefully.
Don’t be faster than your shadow oh.Objective questions can be tricky. For example:
“Where is the smallest bone found?”
Option A says Ear. You rush and click it without reading other options.
But Option D says Middle Ear,which is the MORE PRECISE answer. You see? Two correct answers, but one is more correct. Be sharp and shine your eye.

6. Eat Before You Go .
Shey you know about Hypoglycemia? It is real oh.You don’t want to faint or start seeing double inside the exam hall. Eat something, even if it’s light. Ka onwe Ife brain gi ghota.

7. Go With Your Exam Slip.
In fact, carry at least TWO copies. One for use,one for back up.Its better to be over prepared than being cut off guard.

8. Desperate Times? Desperate Measures.
If time starts choking you, don’t leave any question unanswered! Even if you didn’t get to read them, just dey tap answers. It’s better to guess than to leave blank.
When some students say, “Time finished and I couldn’t answer upto 50 questions.” I feel like giving them a resounding slap! Why didn’t you just click something?? Please, don’t be that person.

Good luck you all. I believe in you and I’m waiting to celebrate your success stories soon.
