Every May 28, Menstrual Hygiene Day raises awareness and combats taboos associated with menstrual hygiene with the goal of enabling women and girls to achieve their full potential.

The theme of this year's Menstrual Hygiene Day is – It's Time for Action – not only emphasizes the urgency of this public health issue, but also highlights the transformative power of improved menstrual hygiene to empower the world’s women and girls and unlock their economic and educational opportunities.

Please plan to observe this great day for our young girls in Nigeria.

Psychological problems, too such as depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder caused by the trauma of the procedure follow women throughout their lives.

Female ge***al mutilation(FGM) deprives women and girls of the opportunity to make critical, informed decisions about their bodies and lives at an early age, reinforcing the idea that women are not equal within their communities.
