Tongue twisters are more than something to say quickly for fun.

‎They can be a great way to practise articulation, pronunciation and speech clarity. The real challenge isn't speed though. It's being able to maintain clear pronunciation as you get faster.

‎So don't rush through these.

‎Start slowly. Get the sounds right. Then gradually increase your speed.

‎And please don't be surprised if your tongue suddenly forgets English. 😂

‎Try one today and challenge someone else to beat your score.

‎Which one was the hardest for you?

STORY TIME 🎙️

THE DAY SHE REALIZED SHE DIDN'T HAVE TO SOUND PERFECT

The room wasn't even that big. Maybe thirty people. But to Amara it felt like thousands were watching.

“Next, we'll hear from Amara.”

Her stomach dropped.

She had prepared for this presentation. She had practised in front of her mirror and even recorded herself the night before. Still, her hands were shaking.

She got to the microphone and started speaking. Then she mispronounced a word.

She froze.

For a second, she wanted to apologise and sit down. But instead she took a breath and said, “Actually, let me say that again.”

She corrected herself and continued.

This time she stopped staring at her notes. She looked at the people in front of her and slowed down. Somewhere along the way, she stopped trying to sound perfect and simply started talking.

When she finished, she wasn't proud because the presentation had been perfect. She was proud because she had made a mistake in front of everyone and kept going.

Later, her friend asked, “So, are you finally confident now?”

Amara smiled.

“No. I just realised something. You don't become confident because you stop being nervous. You become confident when you realise that being nervous doesn't mean you have to stop.”

And maybe that's what many of us need to hear.

You don't have to sound perfect before you speak.

You just have to be willing to speak, make mistakes, learn and try again.

Sometimes confidence isn't the absence of fear.

Sometimes it's simply deciding not to let the fear have the microphone.

There's a common idea that says, “Don't talk while you're eating.”

‎But perhaps we need to be more specific.

‎"Don't talk with food in your mouth."

‎There's absolutely nothing wrong with talking while having a meal.

‎In fact, for many families, the dining table is one of the few places where everyone can sit together, put aside the day's activities, and actually talk.

‎Some of the most meaningful family conversations can happen over breakfast, lunch or dinner.

‎And it doesn't have to be a serious conversation every time.

‎Ask your child what made them laugh.

‎Ask what they would change about their day.

‎Ask what they think about something.

‎Let them tell you a story.

‎Sometimes, you're not looking for information.

‎You're simply creating an environment where your child gets used to talking to you.

‎And when children become comfortable talking to you about the little things, they're more likely to come to you when something bigger is happening.

‎So tonight, put one of these questions on the table and see where the conversation takes you.

‎Which question would you ask your child first?

Sometimes, the difference between ordinary writing and strong writing is simply choosing a more precise word.

‎The goal is not to use complicated words just to sound intelligent.

‎It's to have enough vocabulary to choose the word that says exactly what you mean.

‎Save these five and try using at least one of them in your next piece of writing.

‎Which one was new to you?

A GOOD BOOK DOES MORE THAN IMPROVE READING.

‎It can expand a child's vocabulary, strengthen their imagination, build empathy, improve their ability to express ideas.

‎And sometimes...

‎It gives them words for feelings they didn't know how to explain.

‎A child who reads isn't only learning how to read better.

‎They're meeting new characters, discovering new ideas, encountering unfamiliar words and learning to see the world from perspectives different from their own.

‎That's why the books we place in their hands matter.

‎Here are five books we'd recommend for children and teens, each offering something different, from friendship and empathy to courage, identity and finding your voice.

‎And parents, don't worry if your child's age doesn't fit perfectly into the ranges we've suggested. Reading ability, emotional maturity and interests all matter when choosing a book.

‎Sometimes the best thing you can do is read the book too, then talk about it together.

‎"What did you think of the character?"

‎"Would you have done the same thing?"

‎"What did this story teach you?"

‎That's where reading becomes more than reading.

‎Which of these five books has your child read?

FORMAL COMMUNICATION IS ABOUT CONTEXT.

‎Not every casual expression is "wrong."

‎The real skill is knowing when an expression fits the situation and when it doesn't.

‎Speak naturally.
‎Speak respectfully.
‎And learn to adjust your language to the room you're in.

WHY THIS WORD?

‎Because sometimes, motivation fades.

‎Some days, you won't feel inspired. Some plans will take longer than expected. Some doors will close. And there will be moments when giving up feels easier.

‎That is when you need to be resolute.

‎To be resolute is to keep your eyes on what matters, even when the journey becomes uncomfortable.

‎This week, don't just be motivated.

‎Be resolute.

Sometimes, a child is not quiet because they have nothing to say.

‎They may simply not feel confident enough to say it.

‎And confidence in communication doesn't appear overnight. It grows through everyday conversations at home.

‎The way you listen matters.

‎The questions you ask matter.

‎Even the way you respond when your child makes a mistake matters.

‎So today, try having one conversation with your child without rushing them, correcting every sentence, or looking at your phone.

‎Just listen.

‎You might be surprised by how much they have to say. ❤️

‎What is one question you often ask your child to get them talking?

“Very good” isn't wrong.

But sometimes, “very good” simply doesn't say enough.

If a child gives an excellent presentation, someone goes above and beyond to help you, or a piece of work genuinely stands out, you can be more specific about what makes it good.

That's where a stronger vocabulary comes in.

Don't just learn more words.

Learn when to use them.

Which one of these five are you adding to your vocabulary today?
