The idea of going into education was conceived by Pastor Austen Chimdi and Pastor Mrs. Having watched the trend of education and the products of our current educational system, they were persuaded that except all hands are on deck to salvage the educational system, the nation Nigeria may not be heading anywhere forward. They were very much persuaded that they had a duty to contribute their own quo
ta to the educational development of the nation. The educational development of a nation is so important, vast, demanding and capital intensive that it can no longer be left in the hands of the government. Indeed, in the most developed countries of the world, education is never left for the government alone and our beloved nation cannot be different. In view of the above and having concluded that going into education is imperative, the question now arose “which level?” The decision on what level to start was not an easy one to make, but after much deliberation and consultation there was no doubt that the foundational level was the most appropriate place to start. It is foolhardy and almost self-defeatist to tackle any issue mid-stream. To be able to achieve the utmost success in any issue, it must be tackled from the foundation; hence the decision to start initially with a school that will take children from infancy (crèche) to late childhood (upper Elementary). Mrs. Ukachi being a professional educationist has taken up the challenge of being the pioneer Director and Head of New Fountain Montessori Children School so that she can use her wealth of experience both in Lagos state schools and the Central Bank of Nigeria Primary school and by the special grace of God bring to birth this glorious school: New Fountain Montessori School. The vision is to make New Fountain School a world-class educational institutioSn that will raise children of character and confidence. The mission is for the school to commit itself to nourish, nurture, mentor and groom children in the spirit of excellence in all aspects of their lives. The other aims and objectives are as contained in the school prospectus. New Fountain Montessori Children School started on the 29th September 2003. The school is located on plot 134 Amuwo-Odofin G.R.A, Lagos.
