WRONG LEARNING HABITS YOU SHOULD STOP

🖍️ Cramming : Waiting until the last minute to stuff everything into your brain.

🖍️ Passive Reading : Just reading notes without trying to understand or recall.

🖍️Multitasking : Studying while scrolling social media or watching TV.

🖍️ Skipping Revision : Ignoring review after class and before exams.

🖍️ Depending Only on Teachers : Not doing extra research or self-study.

🖍️Copying Assignments : Learning nothing while depending on others’ work.

🖍️Avoiding Questions : Keeping doubts instead of asking for clarification.

🖍️Studying Without Breaks: Burning out instead of using short rests.

🖍️Comparing Yourself to Others : Wasting energy instead of improving yourself.

*JAMB SCHEDULES SCREENING FOR EXCEPTIONAL UNDERAGE CANDIDATES FOR 2025/2026 ADMISSIONS*

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) will begin screening on Monday for over 500 outstanding candidates under the age of 16 seeking admission into tertiary institutions for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The week-long exercise, which ends on Friday, September 26, will be overseen by a special technical committee and held across three centres: Lagos, Abuja, and Owerri. According to JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, Lagos will screen 397 candidates, Owerri 136, and Abuja 66.

From the 41,027 underage candidates who sat for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), more than 40,000 did not meet the requirements. JAMB emphasized that only the most exceptional students are being considered, in line with international standards. Eligibility requires a minimum UTME score of 320, at least 80% in post-UTME, and a minimum of 80% in WAEC or NECO at one sitting.

The subcommittee, chaired by Prof. Taoheed Adedoja, noted that the evaluation will involve subject-based tests, oral interviews, and verification of WAEC results for shortlisted candidates.

This initiative stems from the Ministry of Education’s policy setting 16 years as the minimum admission age for higher institutions. JAMB explained that the measure is designed to balance academic excellence with psychological maturity, curb age falsification, and shield minors from excessive parental pressure.

THE LUNGS....
THE LUNGS
There are vital organs that play a crucial role in our respiratory series. Without them, there's no way of survival.

The lung is *cone-shaped* with the right lung bringing slightly larger than the left lung.

The lungs are located in the thoracic cavity. They are protected by the rib cage and surrounded by the PLEURA a thin membrane that helps them expand and contract smoothly to facilitate breathing.

WHAT ARE THE FUNCTIONS OF THE LUNGS?

The lungs oxygenate the blood. They take oxygen from the air we breathe and transfer them to the bloodstream.

The lungs remove carbon dioxide from the bloodstream and exhaling it out of the body.

The lungs filter out dust, bacteria and other particles from the air we breathe.
Healthy lungs enable us to engage in physical activities without experiencing shortness of breath.

Proper lung function supports the health of all organa and tissues

Healthy lungs take in oxygen which is necessary for cellular respiration and energy production.

For healthy lungs....
- Don't smoke
- Avoid pollution (air pollution)
- Exercise regularly
- Practice good hygiene: Wash your hands regularly to prevent respiratory infections.

FUN FACTS
1. Lung capacity: The lungs can hold up to 6 liters of air.

2. Breathing rate: The average person breathes around 12-20 times per minutes

3. The average adult can hold their breath for around 15-30 seconds.
Physical fitness, lung capacity and training can allow people hold their breath for about 1-2 minutes.
