HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF THE COLLEGE
Foundation
The College was founded by Very Rev. John Bosco Akam for “Gemeinschaft Der Konigin Des Friedens” under the auspience of Voice of the Poor Foundation (VPF) a registered charity organization in Britain on 6th July, 1996 (Feast of St. Registration and Government Approval
The College went for registration to Enugu State Ministry of education, Enugu, on
8th July, 1996. The team inspectors comprised:
(i) Director of Secondary Education Engr. Ikegbune
(ii) Zonal Inspector of Education (Enugu Zone) Mr. Mbanusi
(iii) Area Inspector of Education (Enugu South L. Uche Eze. The visit if inspectors from Enugu State Ministry of Education to the College informed the inspectors of its readiness and adequate ground work made to run Konigin Des Friedens College (KFC) as a full education granted a probational approval to the College on the 9th day of September 1996. Early Development
The College started her academic programmes with extra-mural studies for GCE and JAMB candidates with only one student at the College temporary site (No 15 Jona Agbo Street, Achara Layout Enugu). However, the number increased to twenty one (21) candidates within two weeks. The First Entrance Examination to the College took place on the 26th day of July 1996, with a total of (18) eighteen students. The College started formal academic from 1996/97 academic year on Monday the 23rd day of September 1996, with nine (9) students in JSS 1, two (2) students in JSS 2, and none in JSS 3. By the end of that first week, the population moved up to 918) eighteen students in all the three classes. Providentially, and as the objective of the College became clear and evident to people, the population of the College increased astronomically from Eighteen (18) to One Hundred and Seventeen (117) students within the first year. By the end of the second academic year of the College(1997/98) the population rose to JSS One, Three Streams of JSS Two, a stream of JSS Three and Three Streams SSS One. Junior Secondary School Certificate Examination (JSSCE) Approval
As the College moved to its permanent site at No. 1 Queen of Peace Drive, New Era Layout, Enugu on Monday the 14th day of April 1997, approval was granted to the College by the Ministry of Education to present candidates for Junior Secondary School Certificate Examination (JSSCE) on the 17th day of December, 1997 and on Tuesday the 16th of June 1998, the College presented forty-one (41) candidates for the examination in the College. The result of these candidates speaks for itself of the quality of teachers and level of academic studies in the College. It is of the note that the College satisfied them on all requirements. The visit of the inspectors from the Ministry of Education in 2008 confirmed that the School is the best among equals (Primus Inter Pares). College at Uga Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State
The Uga Campus of the College is cited in Oka Village, Uga just about 400 meters from the boundary Imo and Anambra State when going from Akokwa to Ekwulobia and about 1.3.km from Oye Uga Market. The Uga campus of the College was established in the 22nd day of January, 1998. The First Entrance Examination in the College was held on 14th day of March, 1998 with over One Hundred (100) students and after this rigorous and pain tasking entrance examination and subsequent interviews, barely thirty three (33) new students were successfully admitted into JSS 1 for 1998/99 academic year. The College is a co-education institute. It is open to boys and girls who are between the ages of ten (10) and eighteen (18) years. The College is a day school and boarding facilities are also available for both male and female students from all parts of the country. About KFC Enugu
