The Universal Organisation for Education, Sports and Leadership Distinction (UOESD) has officially announced the appointment of renowned Nollywood icon, Patience Ozokwo, fondly known across Africa and beyond as Mama G, as the Mother of the Day for the forthcoming 2026 UOESD Global Impact and Inspiring Leadership Awards Ceremony alongside the All Nigeria National Schools Quiz and Debating Championship Grand Finale.

The announcement was made following a fruitful and exciting interactive phone conversation between the UOESD President General, Dist. Amb. Chineke Cajethan Goodluck, and the celebrated actress while he was in Budapest. During the discussion, the veteran actress expressed profound joy and appreciation over the honour bestowed upon her by the international educational and leadership organisation.

Popularly referred to as “Mama G, G for General”, Patience Ozokwo remains one of the most respected and influential figures in the Nigerian entertainment industry. With a career spanning several decades, she has continued to inspire millions through her exceptional acting prowess, moral advocacy, mentorship roles, and commitment to humanitarian causes.

The multiple award-winning actress is also a previous recipient of the prestigious UOESD Global Impact and Inspiring Leadership Award, an honour conferred on distinguished personalities who have made remarkable contributions toward youth development, leadership advancement, education, peace building, and societal transformation.

In recognition of her contributions to arts, culture, leadership and national development, she was also appointed as one of the Ambassadors of the Commonwealth Society of Nigeria and has equally been honoured academically with an honorary doctorate degree from the prestigious University of Lagos.

According to the leadership of UOESD, the appointment of Mama G as Mother of the Day reflects the organisation’s vision of celebrating personalities whose lives and achievements continue to inspire discipline, excellence, integrity, patriotism and purposeful leadership among young people across Nigeria and Africa.
