This is the problem most students of today are having and really affecting their performance.

There is this teacher that taught us one day and gave an assignment, the student asked for the date the assignment will be submitted and the teacher said they have the choice to choose the date by themselves.

The next week the teacher announced that she will be having a test, the student read and came back and on the day of the test, the teacher gave the exact question she has earlier given in the assignment and 95 percent of the students failed the test.

Why because they are yet to do the assignments given.

Most assignments are given for you to study further or to prepare you for the next class.

Only few assignments are specific for grades

So why you are happy post-phoning to do the assignment because the submission date is not yet fix, you are actually blocking your chances of understanding the concepts better.
