Stock

The pressure of having and becoming can often be intense to the extent that we forget the things that are most important to us. God gave us times and seasons so we can take stock. It is an opportunity to critically evaluate your position in life, the things important to you and whether your life is progressing towards your purpose.

Take stock on your spiritual life. The foundation of a Christian entrepreneur and career professional is faith, all your accomplishments or failures rests on it. So, how have you grown spiritually this year? Have you lost focus? Is Christ growing daily in your life? How have you impacted others spiritually in the marketplace?

Take stock of business. Do a review of your vision and objectives, look for why things are not working and why they are working. Use your problems to your advantage. It can be a pointer to areas in your life that require growth and development. Can you create new connections? Streams and trusts? It is important to establish whether your business operates with the principles of faith and if God is guiding you in business.

Stopped Learning

In few months time my son will be turning 12 years. Knowing its significance in both Jewish and Igbo tradition, I have been thinking about it often and asking myself hard questions on parenting. I want to also know ways to improve our relationship knowing that he is fast becoming a man.

So, recently I picked up a book on parenting. My eyes not only opened to things I need to do to better our relationship but also areas in my life that needed healing. In fact, I discovered issues about my own childhood that was unknowingly affecting my son and my personal success.

Never stop learning. In your pursuit of success always put knowledge and understanding at the center. You can't give what you don't have. Every gap and lack in your accomplishments are gaps and lacks in your knowledge. Your life always rises to the degree of what you know.

Invest in books. Dainz Books team carries periodic reviews on books and can give you recommendations based on your needs . Take a course if you can. Especially courses that include a mix of faith. Education should not be given to you without the knowledge of God. You can learn in hours the knowledge that took years to be developed.

's Purpose In Business

Is God using you or are you using God? A very important question every entrepreneur and marketplace professional must answer. Christianity is fast becoming a means to our own end - financial security and influence. While this issue may be subtle, many of us fall into the category of using God.

Beyond the economic and social value that your business provides, what makes you a Christian entrepreneur and career professional is the spiritual or kingdom value that your business also provides. The word Christian is not a title, it simply means we are like Christ. If people cannot easily tell that while doing business with us, then it requires that we reevaluate our commitment and know whether we are still in faith.

Joseph, Daniel, Nehemiah, David and Dorcas all had this kingdom and spiritual value attached to their relevance in the marketplace. Your business creates a platform for you to share your faith in a practical way and spiritually enrich the market place.

You are God's eyes, ears, mouth, hands and legs. Through you he wants to impact the marketplace. Your place of work and business is your place of spiritual assignment. God desires that when men see the work of your hand they will give glory to him.

Need Boldness

I draw a lot of inspiration from the story of David & Goliath in the bible. It is a story of an unfair advantage. Goliath was a giant and a man of war from his youth. David was a boy with no history, but he had God on his side.

The other Israelites had God too. It is one thing to believe that God has a plan for your life, it is something entirely different to be bold about it. Faith has a twin brother called boldness, one cannot exist without the other.

I think that the difference maker was not that David had faith, but that he was bold about it. Successful enterprises and careers are built and driven by leaders who are bold about their vision and their future. Every story of success begins and ends with great boldness.

In my entrepreneurship journey I have found out that the major driver for success is not what you are able to see differently but also your unwillingness and boldness to take advantage of it.

Someone once said that he will never invest in a company that the owner has never failed before. In my own personal study of profile of successful Christians in business, it is not hard to notice lean years and times of failure, loneliness and abandonment. Infact, failure is part of the plan and experience while on your way to your dream.

God also sometimes takes what he has given a man and then gives it back to him eventually. While loss/failure can be painful, I have discovered that it prepares us for the greater good.

Sometimes failure is what helps us to develop clarity in the pursuit of success and that is why it is better to attempt and fail rather than not trying. We often form the right values when we have been able to eliminate what doesn't work.

So if you are experiencing any failure, the best way to respond to it is to learn from it. If you are not able to learn from it, you are bound to repeat it over and over again until the lesson is learnt.

As entrepreneurs and career professionals in the marketplace. We all want success. In fact we dream and wake-up everyday to pursue and experience success. The challenges and struggles we face make it look like success is a hard thing. Take it from me success is easy.

Success simply is an accomplishment of an aim or purpose. Therefore, your aim or purpose by itself is not difficult. The difficulty lies within the person in pursuit of success.

The hard part is character building, waking up early, the life of faith, personal development, being healed of emotional wounds, experiencing freedom and skill acquisition. Success is simply an end result of a well directed life.

So the hard part is not entrepreneurship but the life of the entrepreneur. How you lead yourself is more important and comes first to leading others and your organisation. A well directed life will simply lead to success.

a vision, Live in the now

Sometimes we can be so optimistic about what is to come that we neglect what is now. Worry of the future has kept many people from making progress. The future does not exist, the future is a word used to describe something that is yet to come, which is influenced by our actions. The future that will exist is as a result of our creation today.

While it is important to plan and hope for the future, it is more important to maximise the moment and invest in now. Make the best use of every opportunity around you now and let it be a seed for the future.

Joseph in the bible is a practical example of this. No matter his situation and circumstances he gave his best. His best in the moment became a seed for his future.

A bird in the hand is better than 20 in the bush that you don't have yet. Dream and plan but ensure you take care of what already exists. Sometimes the things we neglect was designed by God to prepare us for the future.
