Let's talk about one of the things that has been the top inquiries we get from prospective nclex candidates from overseas especially Nigeria.
What are the processes involved

As simple as this question may be, we found it very disturbing to many candidates

Well there are stages one need to pass through as an oversea RN to practice as RN in USA

First let me tell us that writing and passing nclex is a prerequisite for every aspiring RN in USA. Whether you trained in the state or overseas.

The only different is the steps involved
This article will focus on foreign trained RN and it will come bit by bit.
So be ready to follow the bits.

First is that you must do certificate evaluation services (CES) with any accredited evaluator acceptable by your chosen board of nursing.
unlike some African states that have a unified board of nursing for the whole country, USA is a bit different as each state operate its board making the requirements for registration different but similar from state to state.
Logging into the website of your dream state of practice will give you a better information on their peculiar requirements.

So who are these certificates evalutors
These includes CGFNS, ERES, JOSEF SLINY INC, etc. These companies can evaluate your credentials.
In fact let's even talk about what this evaluation of a thing means.
By evaluating your documents or certificate, the companies try to look into the standard of which you received your training and then makes a lateral comparison to the standard used in training your pals in United States of America.
This is why they will request you send a transcript of you studies from all professional institutions you attended to form a bases for their decision

They will equally request a validation or verification from your board of nursing to be sure you are qualify to practice as RN in your country as you claimed.
This makes it clearer to understand that who ever is not RN in his/her country is not qualified to apply for this services

The cost of this services varies from companies to companies. But on average, $350-$400.
This cost excludes the cost of your transcripts from your professional institutions and validation of licence from your nursing board.
In some instances, you may need to pay for courier services to delivery these documents to the selected evaluator.

The duration of this services varies equally. Ranging from 10working days to 90 days if all processes of sending and receiving/reviewing documents went on without hedges. it may last longer if there are some issues along the line or shorter if you chose to expedite the processes.

Once the evaluation is done, report of this services will be sent to your selected board of nursing and an applicant copy emailed or posted to you depending on what you opted for.
Getting the CES report will lunch you into the next steps which is board of nursing registration.
