7 Habits of Mentally Strong People
1. You fight when you already feel defeated.
You always have two choices when things begin to get tough: you can either overcome an obstacle and grow in the process or let it beat you. Humans are creatures of habit.
If you quit when things get tough, it gets that much easier to quit the next time. On the other hand, if you force yourself to push through a challenge, the strength begins to grow in you.
2. You keep your emotions in check.
Negative emotions challenge your mental strength every step of the way. While itโs impossible not to feel your emotions, itโs completely under your power to manage them effectively and to keep yourself in control of them.
When you let your emotions overtake your ability to think clearly, itโs easy to lose your resolve.
3. You have to be kind to people who are rude to you.
When people treat you poorly, itโs tempting to stoop to their level and return the favor. People with mental strength donโt allow others to walk all over them, but that doesnโt mean theyโre rude to them, either.
Instead, they treat rude and cruel people with the same kindness they extend to everyone else, because they donโt allow another personโs negativity to bring them down.
4. You have to trust your gut, and make a decision.
Thereโs a fine line between trusting your gut and being impulsive. Trusting your gut is a matter of looking at decisions from every possible angle, listening to advice from trusted people and when the facts donโt present a clear alternative, you believe in your ability to make the right decision; you go with what looks and feels right and you stick with it.
5. Make difficult decisions
Sometimes we have to do things we donโt want to do because we know theyโre for the best in the long-run: fire someone, sit someone down for a difficult conversation, pull an all-nighter to get the company server back up, cut back on spending to save for a goal, or scrap a project and start over.
6. You have to make mistakes, look like an idiot, and try againโwithout getting stressed.
In a study at the College of William and Mary, researchers interviewed over 800 entrepreneurs and found that the most successful among them tend to have two critical things in common: theyโre terrible at imagining failure and they tend not to care what other people think of them.
In other words, the most successful entrepreneurs put no time or energy into stressing about their failures as they see failure as a small and necessary step in the process of reaching their goals.
7. Embrace the unexpected and make the best of it.
Life can be tough. But focusing on the feeling that we donโt deserve this way will not be of any help. Mentally strong people develop a positive thinking strategy to find always the bright side of life.
They do not assume the victim role. They do not focus on finding culprits. They do not compare their miseries with those of others. They decide to grow with adversity and challenge by overcoming obstacles and twist them to their advantage.
They are flexible enough to adjust to the unexpected and accept it as part of the bigger plan and it will all work out in the end.

This Pandemic has really paralysed a lot of businesses.
For some, there seem to be no hope of survival.

Wake up!!

No one can love your business more than you.
That's why you have to be smart and be the number 1 hype man when it comes to your business.
If you don't push your business, no one will do it for you.

Rather than just talk or try to convince my prospect. I listened carefully (I try to know why I was rejected)
Donโt just take the prospectโs rejection at face value. If you earned the right to make your pitch, then youโve earned the right to know why your prospect said โno.โ
If the prospect isnโt ready to take the action you desire, then find out why. Sometimes, it may be beneficial to take the direct approach and ask them what is keeping them from accepting your offer.
Listen carefully to what is being said so that you can figure out your next step in the process.
Knowing the real reasons why you were rejected will make it easier for you to take the right steps the next time around. This will make you feel better about the rejection and more likely to win the sale next time.

One way to remain mentally tough is to remember the times you have succeeded. Instead of only focusing on the rejection, focus on the times you actually got someone to say YES to your product or service.
Thereโs something you must understand when you are attempting to influence; rejection is a part of sales. You canโt avoid it, but you can make it easier to deal with.
When you focus on your victories, it enables you to put things into perspective. The fact that you were rejected this time doesnโt mean you wonโt be able to get anyone else to say yes.
This is why it helps to think of times when you succeeded. It helps you stay motivated.

Let me use the way vaccines work as a case study.
What Do Vaccines Do?
Vaccines work by preparing the body to fight illness.
Vaccine contains either a dead or a weakened micro organism(or parts of it) that causes a particular disease.
The body practices fighting the disease by making antibodies that recognize specific parts of that micro organism.
Now the body has adjusted and is now used to dealing with the micro organism in a way that, when exposed to the actual causative microbes the body will already know what to do.
The medical enthusiast can explain this better.
The best way to become immune to the effects of rejection is to get rejected! In fact when looking for prospective clients always expect No.
If rejection is something that scares you, you can conquer this fear by facing it.
The more I got rejected, the easier it became and the more I learnt. There have been people who have immune themselves to rejection by exposing themselves to it
In this way, you can keep rejection from discouraging you. It will no longer impact your psyche.

In my previous post I emphasized on a common obstacle we all have faced at a point in our lives, especially when it comes to business. I suppose its not a nice experience at all for anybody.
So how do you deal with rejection?
Do you quit?
Here is my experience on how I dealt with rejection.
Read to the very end.

โItโs not personal, na business you dey do.โ
Thatโs the attitude I realized I needed to have each time I face rejection in business.
If your prospect says โno,โ theyโre not rejecting you personally, theyโre rejecting your offer. Yes, I know that you may think your product or service is a part of you, but itโs not. Not to your prospect.
Instead, think of it from a business perspective. Maybe they genuinely donโt need what you have to offer. Maybe they really canโt afford the price at the moment. If this is the case, then itโs better that they say no rather than lead you on, right?
Of course, itโs possible that they may be rejecting your offer because they think they donโt need it or canโt afford it. Maybe theyโre wrong. If this is the case, then itโs up to you to show them the error of their ways! Make them an offer they canโt refuse.
This brings us to the next point. . .

Becoming a successful entrepreneur means understanding that rejection is a normal part of the process. Even the greatest entrepreneurs suffer rejection in business on a regular basis.
Dealing with rejection is a challenge that everyone faces when they are learning to become better entrepreneurs. It can be dangerous for anybody... Not everybody will key into that amazing idea of yours. I have been through it.
But if rejection is allowed to discourage you for too long, it could damage your confidence when you continue to try to influence others.

This is one of those pieces of advice I come back to every time I'm developing a new business idea. You have to find a hungry market no matter what. This means first identifying who you're going to serve and what they need.
Starting a business just because you think you have a smart or a cool idea is not enough. Instead, start a business because you've found 100 people who have the same specific problem and then figure out how to solve it.
Approaching business this way forces you to think about creating value from the very beginning of your business. People who start off with a product and then look for a market are developing their business in the wrong way.
If you're so passionate about making something to the point that you want to do it whether or not there's a market, that makes you an artist. Your work is a passion project. If you're interested in solving pain points in a way that adds value for a very tightly niche market, you're an entrepreneur and your work is a business.

The importance of living within your means goes for business operations just as much as it does for life in general. No amount of money can provide you with freedom if you're always spending more than you earn.
Consider all the messages our today's culture constantly sends you about the things you need to have; for example, partying or hanging out every weekend, getting a new iPhone, a new car, a new crib, a new wardrobe, and gadgets.
Now ask yourself whether those expenses take you closer to your true goal.
Does having a new car give you more time and freedom to do work that actually interests you?
Would a used car still serve as a means of transportation?
Will buying your partner an iPhone really make him or her feel loved?
Would asking him how his day went and really, truly listening mean more?
Yes!! Spending for your own personal pleasure is healthy ๐ฏ๐๐ ๐บ๐ฎ๐ธ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐บ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ ๐ถ๐ป๐๐ฒ๐๐๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ ๐ถ๐ป ๐๐ฐ๐ฎ๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ผ๐๐ฟ ๐ฏ๐๐๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ๐๐ ๐ถ๐ ๐ฎ๐น๐๐ผ ๐ฒ๐๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ผ ๐๐๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐๐.
I am not advocating that you should never go on vacation or keep from buying your loved ones gifts or buying a new car just because it doesn't advance your business. But it's worthwhile to take a hard look at current and future expenses and ask yourself

As you develop your product or service, everyone will have an opinion about what you're trying to do. Because starting a business is inherently filled with uncertainty, you'll naturally want to seek lots of different opinions for reassurance that you're on the right path.
Let me tell you a story,
When I was into popcorn production business at Ibadan.
One day a man walked up to my stand and asked me to reduced the quantity of sugar in my popcorn. I followed his advice, but I discovered that my sales dropped drastically. So I started making popcorn with sugar and salt differently, yet I record little or no sales on the popcorn with salt.
Majority of my customers were school children, they stopped buying because they are no longer getting what they want. Meanwhile the man that advised me was not even a regular customer.
So I consulted one of my mentors and he told me to basically stop caring about what everyone thinks about my products except for my customers thought. Unless they form your target market and they're paying for what you have to offer, their opinion doesn't matter.
It's much better to be bold and do something that no one else is doing. Listen to the people whose needs you're actually meeting to decide where to go with your business or project.
If you can create something really good that helps a few people, then figure out how to scale it while still adding value to the world. You'll be successful but only if you pay very close attention to what your first customers want, and to no one else and that's it.
There you have it now, you are probably excited about your next business move. Right?
