After Paris 2026, Wikimania will head to South America in 2027 🌎

Wikimania is the annual conference of the Wikimedia movement, bringing together volunteers, researchers, organizers, and more from across the world to celebrate open knowledge.

Wikimania Santiago will take place in mid-2027, with exact dates to be announced next year. It will be the third time that the event is held in Latin America, following Buenos Aires in 2009 and Mexico City in 2015.

The organizers for Wikimania 2027 are Wikimedia contributors from Chile and the region, including experienced tech collaborators, active editors in Spanish-language Wikimedia projects, and individuals with leadership experience. They are supported by Wikimedia Chile, which unites over 100 community members across the country and has a history of more than 15 years in promoting open knowledge.
