The LAWMA Academy team today, conducted a School Advocacy and Educational Sensitization programme in Alimosho LGEA District One.

The sensitization, held across Salvation Army School One and Two, St. Andrew’s Anglican Nursery and Primary School, Community Nursery and Primary School, and Methodist Primary School in the Ipaja–Ayobo axis, focused on the roles and responsibilities of LAWMA, basic waste management and recycling practices, positive environmental interaction, and the importance of proper solid waste management for a cleaner and healthier environment.

Pupils were also encouraged to serve as waste management ambassadors within their schools and communities, reinforcing sustainability at the grassroots level.

LAWMA Academy continues to shape the next generation of environmental leaders through hands-on, impact-driven learning.

The November intern cohort successfully concluded their internship with a project presentation and certification, showcasing “Waste to Art” — engineering functional 3D waste bins entirely from discarded materials.

Beyond creative reuse, the project serves as an applied circular economy intervention: a strategically designed public awareness tool aimed at promoting source-level waste segregation, strengthening environmental literacy, and driving the behavioral change required to achieve LAWMA’s circular economy goals.

Congratulations to the November interns for translating theory into practical, scalable solutions.

Did you know? 🤔
It’s LAWMA – LAGOS WASTE MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

not “Lagos Waste Management Agency” OR “Lagos State waste management authority”

We’re here to manage, not just monitor, turning waste into value and keeping Lagos clean, one community at a time.

It’s been a week of learning, interaction, and transformation for our October intern set

The Trashformer team gained insightful lectures from various departments across LAWMA, as well as impactful sessions facilitated by experts from the Ministry of Environment.
Our interns have been exposed to waste management from multiple perspectives, broadening their understanding of sustainability.

The week also featured team assignments and engaging presentations where the interns showcased creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

At LAWMA Academy, we remain committed to grooming environmental champions and building a generation that understands the true value of waste as a resource.
