Hello, friends!
Yes, I know I’ve been away from this space for a while. Though I’m not fully back to my offline food business just yet, I’m excited to announce that I’m back and fully focused on my educational business.
🎉 This August, we’re launching our online holiday classes for Kids, Teens, and Adults — and I’d love for your child to be part of it.
If your goal is to help your child: ✅ Speak confidently with correct diction
✅ Improve their reading and communication skills
✅ Build self-esteem and proper social behaviour
✅ Command attention when they speak
Then this class is exactly what they need!
🕓 Classes are held in the evening between 4 – 7 p.m., depending on your child’s group.
We also offer personalized classes for those who prefer a one-on-one class.
🧵 This doesn’t stop you from enrolling your child in other vocational skills — in fact, this complements them beautifully!
✨ Check the flyer for full details and how to sign up.
Let’s build their confidence and character this holiday.

Please help me o. Is this summer or autumn?😅
I’ve been hearing “summer classes,” “summer break,” and “summer lessons” up and down. But this is Nigeria — and this weather is no be summer anything o, it’s even raining almost every day.
So why do we keep calling it “summer classes”? I had to go and find out!
The term “summer classes” didn’t start here. It’s from countries like the US and UK, where they have a real summer — that hot, sunny season — and that’s when students go on their long break. So they use that period for “summer school” or “summer classes.”
Now, because our long school holiday also happens around that same time (July–September), we just borrowed the term. Even though our weather is shouting the rainy season, we still call it “summer.” 😂
Just in case you’ve been wondering like me… now you know.

MYTH: "You must have a foreign accent to speak good English."
TRUTH: No, you don’t. Speaking well is about clarity, not accent.
💬 You can speak with your Nigerian accent and still sound polished, professional, and pleasant—if your diction is right.

Today, I heard this phrase in Pidgin English, "God don butter my bread," so many times that I started to wonder if people know how to say it in standard English.
Just when I was about to conclude they didn't, someone responded to another person saying it with:
"Life is treating me kindly as well."
At that moment, I breathed a sigh of relief!
Here are some ways to express "God don butter my bread" in standard English:
1. Life is treating me kindly.
2. My prayers have been answered.
3. God has smiled on me.
4. I am truly blessed.
5. Things are looking up for me.

It is not “Cut your coat according to your size.”❌
The correct expression is:
“Cut your coat according to your cloth”✅
Why? Because if the cloth is small, no matter your size, you must manage it to make a coat.
The focus is on what you have, not your size.
Example:
Juma's and Priscilla’s wedding was so grand.
But yours doesn’t have to look like theirs to be beautiful.
What matters is planning something you can comfortably afford.
Remember, it’s not “cut your coat according to your size,”
It’s “cut your coat according to your cloth.”

"I'm coming" when you're going? Let’s talk.
❌ You stand up, grab your keys, start walking out the door and say,
"I'm coming!"
Coming to where biko? You're going! Not coming!
✔️ What you should say instead:
I'll be right back.
Give me a moment.
I'm stepping out; I’ll return soon.
"I'm coming" means you’re moving towards someone or something.
But many of us use it when we’re leaving—and that’s where the confusion starts.
Let’s stop confusing our verbs before someone says,
“You said you were coming, but you disappeared!”
English no hard like that—na we dey make am tough.

What is wrong with you? Must you always make things complicated? Must you always repeat words? Don’t you think they feel redundant? Eh? What is it with ‘from today henceforth’?
The phrase "from today henceforth." These are redundant because "henceforth" already means from this time forward, so adding from or henceforth again is unnecessary.
Correct alternatives:
✅ Henceforth.
✅ From today onward.
✅ Starting today.
For example:
❌ From henceforth, I will be consistent. (Redundant)
✅ Henceforth, I will be consistent.
✅ From today onward, I will be consistent.
I'd love to read your sentence example in the comments.
