MUDEERUL-MORKAZ FALSE STORY
Peace be upon you, and the mercy and blessings of Allah.
Truth stands firm and undeniable. It does not fear debate, nor is it weakened by opposition. Indeed, no statement grounded in truth and wisdom is resisted except by ignorance. Falsehood, on the other hand, is fragile—it requires countless lies to sustain a single deception.
This message is a call to uphold honesty and integrity. A leader, especially one entrusted with guiding a community or managing a center, must embody truthfulness. Lying is a vile trait, and such a character is unworthy of leadership, no matter the position one holds.
I now address a claim made by the Mudeerul-Markaz, who stated that Sheikh Adam traveled to the Maghreb independently, without any introduction or recommendation—particularly denying any role played by our noble master, Sheikh al-Islam, Al-Muqaddam Muhammad al-Awwal (RTA), in facilitating his participation in the renowned Ramadan symposium, Durus al-Hassaniyah, organized annually by the Kingdom of Morocco.
This claim is a clear distortion of reality.
When Sheikh Adam arrived in the Maghreb, he encountered the profound legacy of Sheikh Muhammad al-Awwal (RTA)—his teachings, supplications, spiritual influence, and the vibrant presence of Sufism shaped by his contributions. The impact of our master was evident in both scholarly circles and spiritual communities, reflecting his honor, humility, and recognition, even at the level of the Moroccan Kingdom.
After the symposium, Sheikh Adam returned to Nigeria and paid a visit of gratitude to Sheikh Muhammad al-Awwal (RTA) at his residence in Oshodi. During that visit, he openly expressed his appreciation for the connection established with the Kingdom of Morocco. This was witnessed by several individuals, including some of his students such as Sheikh Dawud Al-Fanla and Sheikh Abd al-Wahab Al-Gamawiy.
Despite this clear and witnessed account, the Mudeerul-Markaz insists on claiming that Sheikh Adam acted entirely on his own. This assertion is not merely incorrect—it is a fabrication. In truth, it was Sheikh Muhammad al-Awwal (RTA) who introduced Sheikh Adam, as well as the esteemed scholar Sheikh Kamaludeen Al-Adabiy, to the Moroccan authorities, which led to their invitation.
Furthermore, the claim that Sheikh Muhammad al-Awwal (RTA) did not deliver lectures at the Moroccan symposium—or that he lacked the ability to speak publicly—is false and deeply disrespectful. It reflects a serious lack of knowledge and proper conduct.
Sheikh Muhammad al-Awwal (RTA) is a distinguished scholar of both the outward sciences (Shari‘ah) and the inward realities (Haqiqah). He is a teacher, a leader, and a guide whose contributions are widely recognized. He did, in fact, deliver lectures in the Kingdom of Morocco and was among the early contributors to those gatherings.
His intellectual and spiritual legacy is preserved in several notable works, including:
Al-Istiqamah fi al-Islam (Steadfastness in Islam)
Wahdat al-Ummah al-Islamiyyah (The Unity of the Muslim Ummah)
Asbab Wahdat al-Ummah (The Causes of Unity in the Muslim Nation)
These works reflect his deep engagement with themes of unity, spirituality, and ethical conduct, and they form part of his contributions to scholarly discourse, including the Ramadan lecture series in Morocco.
Through these efforts, Sheikh Muhammad al-Awwal (RTA) has played a vital role in promoting knowledge, strengthening spiritual awareness, and building intellectual bridges across communities.
In conclusion, I urge the Mudeerul-Markaz to refrain from spreading falsehood and to uphold the truth. Evidence is clear, and the truth stands firm for all to see.
And Allah knows best.
