Many parents and teachers hand a pencil to a child too early, skipping the basics. That’s why we often end up holding their hands to write. A strong foundation matters. Even if a child struggles, don’t rush—build the basics first.⁣

𝐏𝐫𝐞-𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 are essential for early writers (ages 2–5). These playful tasks help build hand strength, coordination, and the fine motor control needed to hold a pencil and write with ease.⁣

Here are some everyday activities that build strong little writers:⁣
📌Transferring beans with a spoon ⁣
📌Cutting paper with child-safe scissors ⁣
📌Finger painting and tracing shapes in sand/flour ⁣

📌Playing with playdough—rolling, squeezing, cutting ⁣
📌Hanging socks with clothe pins ⁣
Picking small objects with tweezers or fingers⁣

Thank you for your active participation in the pep talk session during the NAPPS Enugu Educators Summit on June 12th, 2025.

PRACTICAL TRAINING:
The Legible Handwriting Campaign School Tours Enugu State Edition will hold a dedicated online training session via WhatsApp group on the last Saturday of June 2025.

IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGIES:
- Teachers will learn strategies to implement legible handwriting practices in their classrooms for the remainder of the third term.
- Assessment and evaluation will be conducted to track progress.
