⚠️ “Insecurity Wins Again: Why Are students Paying the Price?”
It is heartbreaking that in today’s Nigeria, the Federal Government and many State Governments are shutting down boarding schools—not because of renovation, not because of development, but simply because they cannot guarantee the safety of innocent students.
Closing schools should never be the solution to insecurity. Education is a right, not a privilege that can be withdrawn whenever threats arise. Instead of providing adequate security, strengthening intelligence systems, and deploying the necessary protective measures, government leaders are choosing the easiest escape route: lock the schools and hope the problem goes away.
How long will we continue like this?
How long will fear dictate the future of innocent children?
How long will insecurity silence classrooms that should be full of dreams and potential?
A responsible government does not run away from challenges—it confronts them. Our students deserve protection, not closure. Our schools deserve security, not abandonment. And our nation deserves leadership that values education over excuses.
It is time for the Nigerian government, at all levels, to wake up. Strengthen security, protect our children, and restore confidence in our educational system. Closing schools is not the remedy—providing safety is.
