HOW TO MAKE YOUR CHILD THE MOST BRILLIANT STUDENT IN THE CLASS

It is not only the child's responsibility to become a brilliant student, but also the obligation of teachers, parents, and those who wish the best for such a young person. For a child to perform fantastically well among his peers whose parents similarly desire such perfection, trusted techniques and plans must be put in place.
To make this a reality, the parents engaged must go above and beyond the standard processes used by others to improve their children's learning abilities. Keep an eye out for the procedures I'll show you below.

1. Get him some textbooks that are simple to understand.

Students can attest to the value of made-easy academic texts in supplementing their primary textbooks in the classroom. Made-easy books tend to simplify tough topics that can be difficult to convey in class. As a result, they can understand the entire knowledge in the simplest way feasible.

2. Create a system for private tutorials.

Unlike public courses, where teachers may be absorbed in other curricular activities, private tutorials should always take place after school hours, when students can have one-on-one conversations with their tutors. If taken seriously, this will be beneficial to parents who desire the best for their children.

3. Prepare tests based on their work plan.

Teachers aren't the only ones who may set up tests for their pupils; devoted parents can do the same. Take a close look at their school's curriculum and give your child a test to determine his strengths and weaknesses so you'll know what to do if he fails the test.

4. Increase the amount of time they spend reading during their free time.

Too much play can cause a child to forget everything he learned at school for that day. You can let him play to clear his mind, but it should be educational games like word games, number games, and other brainstorming toys. After a while, invite him in for a reading session and follow up with questions to ensure that he understands what he's been reading.

5. Promise Him Gifts For Good Performance

Children are always eager to please someone who offers to reward them if they perform well.
You can play with your child's thinking by offering to buy him his favorite toy if he finishes first in class. Believe me when I say that the child's focus will shift to impressing you to win the prize the moment you say this..

Why Children Ask So Many Questions
Some studies show 4 year olds ask as many as 200-300 questions a day.
In 3 years, they can ask 40,000 questions all by themselves.
They must be feeling like superheroes with that kind of prowess.
My 3 year old be like, ' mummy should I use blue colour? did my teacher give me homework? Is Praise my friend? Are you frying egg for me? Should we go and see dog?
Haba!
It takes a strong adult to properly parent a child, patiently and knowledgeably seeing them through the important stages of their lives.
Imagine being ask 73 questions in one hour? Are you winning the Nobel Prize? Studies actually concede that children can actually ask 73 questions in just one hour.
Do you now know the reason some adults use paper tape to shut a kid up? Or escape into their rooms to have some quiet time?
5 Reasons why they cant stop bombarding you with questions
1. To make sense of the world.
2. To gain more information.
3. To discover things.
4. To improve innate curiosity leading to creativity.
5. It facilitates learning.
6. Helps them build concepts, vocabulary, skills, and what they don't know.
Here's 5 things you can do:
1. Listen to the questions, you are honouring and encouraging their interest.
2. Always answer, you are teaching them.
3. Deepen their thinking by turning their questions to what is relevant and can add knowledge.
4. Ask them your own questions, and teach them how to solve problem by thinking up answers, the world belongs to problem solvers and creative thinkers.
5. Let them write down a list of their questions and possible answers, prompting research (for older kids)
6. Model curiosity and value questions. Ability to answer personal life questions, improves the chances of good success.
50 percent of what your child learns will come from your answers. Never joke with it again.

*"The Psychology of using Grade to Judge kids.

As a teacher, I see so many students who are obsessed with grades.
I saw students who cried, became depressed and worried due to bad grades.
Specifically, I remember an experience when one of my students was depressed for an academic year because she had bad grades in the previous session
Anytime she came to class she was sad and unhappy. She allowed her grades to affect her mood, motivation and identity.
When I reflected on this experience I could not scold her for being depressed because she has been conditioned to believe that without good grades she is useless and stupid.
Whenever she had good grades she was very happy and excited.
But whenever she had bad grades she was sad and depressed.
Her grades determined her mood and predicted her behaviour.
Where did this problem arise from? Off course, the home system, school and even society contribute to this
Parents would make a child look useless and worthless if they perform poorly in school.
The school add to this by making the child feel worthless for having bad grade
And within the society the child can hardly stand confidently or get a chance of getting good job with poor grades
If you think grades were not created with students in mind, why do students care so much about them?
While it is tempting for us to blame children hormones or social media or any of the other usual scapegoats, students are ultimately responding to the structure of our education system.
What I meant is that some parents go to discuss with teachers about ways their child's grade can be improved especially when the grade is bad. I am not talking of giving bribe or a favour to increase a child grade
however, the way parents go about it doesnt make the child feel like they are interested in them instead is the grade they are more concerned about
A 2014 survey found that 80% of kids thought that their parents cared more about their grades than their happiness or altruism.
Some schools have even had to restrict the number of times that parents are allowed to access their children’s grades in school or online.Perhaps because their parents value good grades so highly, many students use their grades as a measurement of their intelligence. even some parents use it to determine the intelligent level of their child
This has made so many children to based their sense of self-worth on their academic performance
The finding from a research is worrying because children who base their self-worth on external sources such as grades can develop “more stress, anger, academic problems, [and] relationship conflicts” as well as “drug and alcohol use and symptoms of eating disorders.”
What do we reinforce in school? Why do we stigmatise students with bad grades?
Why do we use grades to determine their future outcomes? From my experience as a teacher and a child psychologist I have seen students with good and bad grades attained great feats in life.
I have seen both best and worse graduating students did well in life. It means that academic ability should not be the only measurement for success in life.
According to Angela Duckworth, “ The only thing we know how to measure best in school is IQ. But what if doing well in school and in life is much more than your ability to learn quickly and easily?”

Am I advocating for students to be having bad grades. No....
I am one person that will always encourage students to study hard and have excellent results.
I am an advocate of excellent grades and academic success.
I will never encourage any student to take his or her grades for granted.
I know in the society we live in grades are celebrated and organizations tend to scout for graduates with excellent grades.
So my encouragement to parents and teachers is that they should encourage children to focus on their study and do well in school.
However, do not allow whatever grades your child have to determine their worth.
Their worth in life is much more than their grades, either good or bad.

So my encouragement to parents and teachers is that they should encourage children to focus on their study and do well in school. However, do not allow whatever grades your child have to determine their worth.
Their worth in life is much more than their grades, either good or bad.
Their relevance and success in life is not tied to having good or bad grades. . A bad or good result should not define them or tell them who they are.
We must learn to separate their identity from their grades. The fact that a child had a D is not who the child is. The child still has the potential to have an A
So dont use a D to define the future of a child. The D is only a bend and not an end. The child worth is far more than the grades
Your responsibility is to help the child build confidence, encourage him or her that he or she can do better in the next session.
Do not use words that will kill the child’s motivation and drive because of the grade he or she got
Parents please check the feedback of teacher on your child's report card. Are they demotivating or demoralising? If yes, please talk to the teacher about it
Educators should also help pupils who have low self esteem and depressed as a result of bad grades.
Your feedback should help them improve and become better instead of making them become worthless.
We have a responsibility as teachers to help students with either bad or good grades. According to National Institute of Mental Health, anxiety and heartbeat in children and young adults have been on the increase since 1950’s, and standardized testing is one of the contributing factors.
We cannot continue to destroy our students’ self-esteem and self-worth. School should not be a place we have so many casualties due to bad grades. We can make it place where students find joy in learning.
As parents and educators tell children that their gifts and talents are much more than their grades. No one can put a grade on their talents. They can be whatever they want to be. The choice is yours to say it and theirs to act on it

Thank you for your attention

WHY DO CHILDREN GET AGGRESSIVE?

This can be shocking to some of you but I would to say that aggression is a normal part of a child's development.

You will see aggressive behaviour in kids as they begin to develop
Many children grab objects from classmates, hit, kick, or get angry from time to time.
Children are still learning all kinds of new skills, from using pen or pencil to speaking in complex sentences.
He or she can easily become frustrated with everything he or she is trying to accomplish and end up lashing out at a playmate.
What about a kid that just started school and still trying to get used of being away from home? If the kids feels that he or she is being neglected or abandoned, he or she can just display aggressive behaviour to anyone who annoys him or her.
Whatever the cause of your child's aggression, it's likely she'll eventually outgrow it as she becomes more skilled in using words instead of fists and feet to solve her problems.

Why do you think babies cry, scatter or destroy things when they want to solve problems or are angry.
Also, it might be that your child is angry and because he or she doesnt know the best way to respond he or she might think that the best way to respond is to throw tantrum or hit something.

Whatever the cause of your child's aggression, it's likely she'll eventually outgrow it as she becomes more skilled in using words instead of fists and feet to solve her problems.
Why do you think babies cry, scatter or destroy things when they want to solve problems or are angry.
But it is better to help kids realize on time that they will get better results from talking out a dispute than from yanking their friends’ hairs or hitting them.
Most of the time it is because they have not learnt how to use words to solve problems, so they use their hands and feet.

Aggression in children can take many forms:
Angry tantrums; hitting, kicking, or biting; hot-headed outbursts that destroy property; cool-headed bullying; verbal attacks; attempts to control others through threats or violence.
Some psychologists argue that child development is influenced by nurture (Environment), while others argue that child development is influenced by nature (Hereditary). This is one of the controversial issues psychologists have been debating for decades.
Do Children genetically inherit or learn aggressive behaviour? Some studies provide evidence that parents can pass down violent genes to their children and that there is a part of the brain that shows individuals with violent genes.
However, some empricial evidences posit that Children who are exposed to violent programmes on TV or internet will display aggressive behaviour. It was also indicated that a child who lives or stays in an aggressive environment can imitate the behaviour and become aggressive.
There are other researchers who believe that agression is developed as a result of the interaction between the genes and environment. That is both nature and nurture influence children development of aggressive behaviour.
Irrespective of how aggression is developed or acquired, it is evident that aggressive behaviour is a major problem in the home, school and society.
Aggression doesn't happen because children are programmed to respond to the world with hostility.
Whether or not children will respond aggressively depends on how they perceive the world.
Why are children aggressive?
Some kids lash out because they're frustrated by a problem that's too big for them.
Some kids may be aggressive because they are wrestling with special difficulties or psychological disorders like emotional regulation problems, attention deficits, autistic symptoms, conduct disorders, mood disorders, intellectual impairment or hyperactivity
They haven't yet learned how to control their impulses, or work out conflicts in a way that is socially acceptable
The aggression may also be a form of impulsivity.
When children with these conditions become aggressive, they often do so because they have difficulty dealing with their anxiety or frustration and can’t verbalize their feelings as others do
Aggressive tendencies can be shaped by environmental conditions – such as domestic violence, poverty, abuse. Pressure, etc.
Some kids are aggressive due to stressful life situation. There are times when aggression in children or teenagers is provoked by stressful life situation and do not represent an underlying emotional illness.
Peers, teachers, neighborhoods, media messages, ideologies, and cultural factors all play a role
A research reveals that children are more likely to develop aggressive behavior problems if they are exposed to lots of early life stress (Palumbo et al 2018).
Just as early life stress, genetic factors put some kids at higher risk of for aggressive behaviour.
What can you do about aggression in kids
Large-scale twin studies confirm that genetic factors put some of us at higher risk for aggressive behavior (Luningham et al 2020).
Set an example. No matter how angry you are, try not to yell, hit, or tell your child she's bad.
This is why we tend to discourage shouting or flogging a kid because they can learn aggressive behaviour from such act
Try and set a good example by controlling your temper and calmly pulling her out of the action, as needed.
Respond quickly. Try to respond immediately when you see your child getting aggressive. Dont wait until he or she has comitted the act three or four times
Be consistent and Stick to your plan: The more predictable you are, the sooner you'll set up a pattern that your child comes to recognize and expect
Talk to your child. You need to learn to talk to kids as you talk to a friend.
Let your child cool down then calmly discuss what happened.
Do this when he or she has settled down but not when he or she has forgotten about the whole thing.
Learn the kid know that it is perfectly natural to get angry sometimes, but it's not good to shove, hit, kick, or bite someone.
You can do this 30minutes to 1 hour after the incident.
For example by kicking a ball, pounding his fist into a pillow, finding an adult to mediate the dispute, or simply voicing his feelings to his friend
You can suggest to the child better ways of showing how angry he or she is
He or she can say to his or her that "I feel really mad because you took my book."
You can also teach the child to walk away from annoying situation until he or she has figured out a better way to solve the problem
Some parents only talk to their kids when they misbehave or are agressive. They dont reward or praise them when they are calm and handle situation peacefully.
Reward good behavior. Rather than paying attention to your child only when she misbehaves, try to catch her being good
Teach responsibility. If your child broke someone toy for example, tell the child to fix the broken toy. Provide whatever the child will need to fix it.
Be proud of them when they display self control and say it to them
Also, teach the child how to say “I am sorry” when he or she has oversteps his or her bounds.
This is very important because i have seen adults who cant say i am sorry when they are wrong because they were never taught to say so.
Be smart about screen time: Innocent-looking cartoons and other media intended for children are rife with shouting, threats, shoving, and hitting.
Do not expose kids to TV viewing of agressive cartoons.
Finally, ask for help from a professional if it is beyond you. Thank you

What do you need to do in providing feedbacks?

Correct gently and firmly. You dont need to shout or be harsh to pass your message. teenagers for example, care a lot about what their peers think of them.

Constructive feedback given in front of others, even if it is well-intended, can be read as a public attack on them and their ability

This can lead to students developing a fear of failure and putting up a front.
One way to do this is to do what is called individual correction. It is done in public but the tone and pitch of your voice is heard only by the child receiving it.

Do not compare. It is far better to focus your feedback on the aspect you want your child to improve and develop rather than comparing them to their classmates or anyone else including their siblings.

This sort of comparison can also reduce motivation and result in lower confidence, emotional control, academic performance and increased anxiety.

A recent study found that being positively compared to others can lead to narcissistic behaviour.

Praise your child’s or student’s efforts and not their natural ability.

It makes the child wants to improve. For instance, if a child got D in a subject, focus on praising the effort he or she put in to get D instead of giving a negative feedback on the D.

Even if you give a positive feedback about the D, the child can become stuck and think D is a good mark.

But if you praise the effort the child puts in and encourage him or her that his or her effort can be improved to get an A or B, there is the tendency the child will improve

what i am saying is that try and focus on the process and not just the outcome
Make your feedback educative in nature. Let the child knows what he or she is doing right or wrong. What is the point shouting or flogging and the child does not get the message

Don't invalidate how a child feels to a certain feedback just because another child feels differently

Customise your feedback. Every child is different and each child takes feedback differently.

Do not cause the child harm with your feedback. This is known as the “Do no Harm” Principle

You are dealing with children with different upbringing, needs and preferences.

Model this behaviour by asking kids to give you feedback too.

Be genuine in your feedback especially when praising a kid. Student can figure out when you are using meaningless praise to win approval.

Some teachers and parents are so negative about life due to what they have experienced and it is affecting the kind of feedback they give to students.

As a parent or teacher you need to be healed from your past mistakes or experience if not it will affect the way you raise children and the kind of feedback you give to the child

Do not shy about it. confide in someone that can help through the process. you need healing as a teacher or parent

it is very important for the future of your child that you are healed. you cannot give what you do not have

You can have bitterness and anxiety rooted in your heart and think your child will not experience a fair share of it

for parents, develop the kind of feedback you want in your family. Also, when your neighbours or friends or even family member use negative feedback on your child you need to caution them

Words are powerful. Words becomes pictures in the mind of a child and it sticks for a very long time even into adulthood.

i know alot of adult struggling with low self-esteem and image problem as a result of the feedbacks they got growing up either from parents, teachers or friends.

in conclusion, Do not judge a child base on the present circumstances. Focus on the child's potential and not hsis or her current realities.

G o and develop the skills needed to provide the right feedback as you work with children.

Thank you. Please feel free to ask me questions as regards the topic.
