Definition of Good Character
Good character refers to the combination of traits, values, and behaviors that define an individual as a responsible, empathetic, and morally upright person. It encompasses a range of qualities that guide a person's actions, decisions, and interactions with others.

What Good Character Looks Like
Good character can be demonstrated through various traits and behaviors, including [1]:

The previous day, I wrote about how being an only child can affect a child’s social skills. So today, let us talk about how parents can help their only children develop social skills

Parenting an only child can be rewarding, but sometimes, it also means your child may spend more time alone, which can affect how they interact with other children.

To help handle this problem, I have decided to write on this. Here are seven simple and effective tips:

1. Schedule Play Dates Often

Play dates aren’t for “the white people only”, yes, you heard me right! I am sure you have seen them in American movies, but they are for everyone. A play date simply means arranging a time for your child to play with other children around the same age. It can be with neighbours, classmates, or even children from your place of worship.

These little hangouts help your child learn sharing, patience, teamwork, and communication. Make it a regular thing, not just a once-in-a-while event.

2. Sign Them Up for Team Sports or Group Activities

I know you might already have a private tutor who comes home to teach your child piano or art. But that’s not the kind of activity I’m talking about. Choose group activities like football, ballet, drama club, dance classes, or debate teams. These experiences help your child meet other children, learn to work in teams, and express themselves confidently.

And please, don’t be that parent who says, “No, he can’t go for the school excursion because he’s my only child.” I will never the excursion to Jungle I miss as teenager, it hurt me that I did not get to go. Let them explore, it’s part of growing.

3. Don’t Let Them Feel Left Out

Only children sometimes feel they are missing out when they see siblings playing together. Be mindful of this. Include them in family conversations, visits, and group game
