ation, thinking as well as their conversational skills. Therefore, regards to the developmental needs of children’s skills and abilities, play schedules are provided taking into cognizance age and stages to regulate participation of children in active and passive events. The period of active events are interspersed with that of passive events. Chapal International Academy regards that basic
right and duty to educate rest with the parents. In the home, parents teach by example, reverence for God and respect for the dignity of others. They are also tremendously influential in cultivating among their children the virtues of loving one another, loyalty, honesty, justice, generosity and obedience, which are relevant to their living the sanity of godly life. We believe that pupils commit themselves to studying and learning, by accepting responsibility for their work and their behavior. Our goal is to instill sound Christian virtues such as respect for others, common courtesy. Manners, self-discipline, responsibility and accountability- by consistently indoctrinating the school Code of Conduct. We are committed to training and nurturing children to behave responsibly, recognize and value the rights of others to be physically safe, spiritually immune, emotionally secure, and to pursue their own learning without interference. As committed as we stand in helping children to respect rules, we also value the time and energy this draws from others who are behaving appropriately. CIA, positively operates with the right perspective in setting clearly defined limits and providing appropriate consequences for deviant behavior and corporal punishment such as spanking, slapping and beating in child care. The following code of conduct/rules and regulations is designed by the school authority to regulate the actions of teachers, pupils/students and parents at any time when under the domain of the school. Discipline
Discipline is the training that develops self-control, orderliness, efficiency and character. Discipline is one of the most important criteria of education that should be internalized in pupils/students. CIA expect every one to abide by set discipline in the school. Attendance/Records
Pupils/Teachers are required to be regular in school and attend classes punctually. Regularity of attendance and punctuality are important in the educational success of the child and in his or her character training. Absenteeism and early dismissal of pupils/teachers are discouraged. A pupil/teacher is considered absent after an official attendance is been taken. Pupils/teachers should be absent only on legal absenteeism. Such as required presence in court, sickness, impossible roads which make travel unsafe. All other absenteeism is classified as unlawful detention on the part of the parents/teachers. Early dismissals or absenteeism interrupts both the child’s education and that of other pupils in class. In all cases, the school’s authority should be notified early enough for a good consent. Parents should notified the school authority before 8.35am if the child is to be absent that day. A written excuse from the parents should be presented to the child’s teacher when the child returns to school. This becomes a part of the attendance file as a valid document. For safety and security, CIA will not release a child without proper identification of the parents/guardians usually with the school collection card. In the case of pupils’ illness in the school, the school will call the parents/guardians contact lines on the child’s admission form. Where the parents/guardians cannot be reached, the school will call the “emergency lines” in the child’s admission form. Parents/guardians are primarily responsible to notify the school management through their child’s teacher, if there are any changes on the “Emergency lines”. This regulation is a legal protection for each child and parents/guardians. Rules on School Premises and Classrooms
When moving on school premises, walk calmly and gently. All writing materials should be left in the classroom when visiting restrooms, and reception hall. A “pass system” is maintained to regulate the movement and conduct of pupils on arrival in the morning and during closing in the afternoon. Teachers are required to teach the pupils the importance of a clean environment including litter prevention, and inculcate sane into them. Parents are expected to prepare their children to school with all writing materials. Teachers must come to class prepared with all the materials needed, including teaching aids and be ready to begin work on time. Teachers should ensure pupils are well seated and organized. Excellence behavior is always required of teachers in and out of class discussion/interaction. School schedule
Pupils/teachers should be in school by 8.00am.Morning lesson starts at 8.35am.All pupil/teachers are expected to go to their various classroom by 8.30am.Under no circumstances will Chapal International Academy accept responsibility for children left outside the school after 8.35am. Regular Closing time for pupils are started below:
Crèche/Daycare: 12.30pm. Nursery 1 and 2: 1.30pm from Monday through Wednesday, 12.30pm on Thursdays and Fridays
Nursery 3 and Primary 1-3: 3.00pm from Mondays through Wednesday, 2.00pm on Thursdays and Fridays. It is the duty and the responsibility of the parents/guardians to check on the weekly school schedule provided by the authority. The weekly schedule specifies the closing times for each level and periods for special events. Registration
Admission occurs on a yearly basis. All financial obligation of the child must be satisfied before his/her admission. Payment should be made on or before two weeks from the date of resumption. Assignment/Homework
Parents/guardians should ensure that children’s homework are neatly, carefully and accurately done and on time. If a child experience difficulty in completing an assignment with “good cause”, the child’s parent should explain the situation to the child’s teachers with a short note or phone call. Break Periods
Break periods at school are to be observed in an orderly manner with socializing amongst pupils permitted at a normal conversational level. Respect for school and personal property
Facilities and material in school must be used only for official intended purposes. Teachers will be held accountable for negligence over schoolbooks, educational materials and their classrooms. Work areas must be kept litter-free. Belongings must be respected, using them only with permission. Any one who steals or damages any property not belonging to him/her will be required to make appropriate compensation with a penalty. Though the school manages a “lost-but-found” office, every one is encouraged to take good care of their personal belongings. Parents should mark a child’s belongings with name. Playing
The sport master/teacher’s directives on the school playground should be carefully followed. Running on the school playground is allowed but under the supervision of the sport/PE master. Play is limited to designated areas. Dress Code
All parties including Pupils/Teachers are required to respect and abide by policy on dressing adopted by the board of governors and management of CIA. Neatness and cleanliness shall be encouraged. Dressing Code:
Pupils:- It is mandatory for all Pupils of CIA to dress on the provided School Uniform and P.E Outfit to School, as specified by the school Authority. Staff:-Strictly western (Mondays to Thursdays)
Fridays(Native attire).Generally, modest dressinG emphasized. Clothes: We ask that you provides extra items of clothing recommended, that might be changed during the day. Pampers and Pants should be supply on daily basis. Transportation Service
The school regulations concerning bus conduct and services should be consistently followed. Honesty and Respect for others
Honesty, trust and respect are sound virtues highly esteemed and encouraged in the school. Languages
The official languages which will be used as medium for communication in the school are English, French, and other foreign languages are allowed in the school. Speaking of native languages will not be tolerated. Respect for God
Teachers, pupils and parents should
Involve in all Christian events to instill sound Christian virtues on the pupils’ minds. This is necessary for the cultivation of behavior that is rooted in the fear of God. Actions Prohibited in school
At all levels, stealing is disallowed and forbidden. Gambling, immorality, disrespect and profane words will not be tolerated in the school/ or on school grounds. Use of any illegal drugs, alcohol or to***co products are also greatly detested. Fighting and rough plays are strictly prohibited. All issues should be channeled to the appropriate quarters/authorities. The school’s code of conduct/regulations is designed to encourage safety, respect, cooperation, a conducive learning environment and foster order.
