COMPUTER MEMORY
Computer memory is a fundamental component that stores data and instructions for immediate processing by the CPU.

1️⃣ Primary Memory (Main Memory)

Primary memory is the memory that the computer uses immediately while it is working. It is directly connected to the CPU (the brain of the computer). This type of memory is very fast, but it does not store large amounts of data. Some parts of primary memory, like RAM, will lose all the information when the computer is turned off. That is why if you don’t save your work and the power goes off, your work disappears. Primary memory helps the computer run programs, open files, and process instructions quickly.

Examples include:

-RAM

-ROM

-Cache

-Registers

2️⃣ Secondary Memory (Auxiliary Memory)

Secondary memory is used to store data permanently. It keeps your files, documents, videos, and software safe even when the computer is turned off. It is slower than primary memory, but it can store a large amount of information. For example, your hard drive stores your operating system, applications, and personal files. Without secondary memory, you would not be able to save your work for future use. This type of memory is very important for long-term storage.

Examples include:

-Hard Disk Drive (HDD)

-Solid State Drive (SSD)

-Flash Drive

-Memory Card

-External Hard Drive-

COMPUTER FUNCTIONS

💻 1️⃣ Input
A computer receives data from the user or another device.
Examples:
• Typing with a keyboard
• Clicking with a mouse
• Scanning documents
• Using a microphone
👉 Input = Giving information to the computer.
⚙️ 2️⃣ Processing
The computer works on the data according to instructions (programs).
Examples:
• Calculating numbers
• Editing text
• Sorting data
• Running software
👉 Processing = Thinking / working on the data.
💾 3️⃣ Storage
The computer stores data and information for future use.
Types of storage:
• RAM (temporary storage)
• Hard drive / SSD (permanent storage)
• Flash drive
👉 Storage = Saving information.

🖥 4️⃣ Output
The computer gives results back to the user.
Examples:
• Showing text on the screen
• Printing a document
• Playing sound
• Displaying videos
👉 Output = Showing the result.
