FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ASKS TEACHERS TO GET PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION OR RISK JOB LOSS.

The Federal Government has ordered teachers across the country to ensure that they are fully certified and licensed before the end of the 2026/2027 academic session.

This directive was issued by the Federal Ministry of Education and to be enforced by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), ensuring that only professionally qualified educators are allowed to teach in Nigerian schools.

By the new directive, teachers are expected to access the Council’s official portal to obtain or renew their licences, which will remain valid for three years.

In addition, certified teachers seeking employment opportunities outside Nigeria will be issued letters of Professional Standing, this move is designed to enhance global mobility and competitiveness of Nigerian educators.

As part of the strengthened regulatory framework, a mandatory induction programme will now precede full registration.

This program is designed for individuals holding HND, Bsc, or B.Tech qualifications who wish to enhance their credentials with a professional education qualification.

The PDE program will consists of two semesters, aims to equip candidates with essential professional skills in education.

Upon successful completion of the program, certificates will be ready after two months.
Also, graduates will be connected with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) for registration, examination, and issuance of the TRCN Certificate and License.
