On this blessed occasion of Eid Al-Adha 1447AH/2026, the President of SAZU Alumni Association, Comr. Umar Babayo, extends his warmest greetings and heartfelt congratulations to the entire SAZU Alumni Community and the Muslim Ummah at large.

He prays that this sacred celebration reminds us of the values of sacrifice, obedience, unity, and compassion as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim (AS). May Allah (SWT) accept our prayers, sacrifices, and acts of worship, and continue to bless our families, communities, and nation with peace, progress, and prosperity.

He further encourages members of the association to uphold the spirit of togetherness, mutual respect, and continuous support for one another in building a stronger and more impactful alumni community.

Spotlight: honoring professor ango abdullahi — scholar, leader, and public servant

The Sa’adu Zungur University Alumni Association celebrates Professor Ango Abdullahi, Chairman of the University Governing Council, for his visionary leadership and pivotal role in renaming Bauchi State University, Gadau to Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU) honoring the late nationalist, Mallam Sa’adu Zungur.

Comr. Umar Babayo, President of the Alumni Association, commended Prof. Ango for his lifelong dedication to education, agriculture, and public service, describing him as “a beacon of wisdom and integrity whose legacy continues to inspire generations.”

Through his efforts, SAZU stands today as a symbol of excellence, identity, and enduring pride.

SA’ADU ZUNGUR UNIVERSITY ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

PRESS RELEASE

1. DEFAMATORY AND UNPROFESSIONAL REPORT ON SA’ADU ZUNGUR UNIVERSITY BY ALBARKA RADIO

The Alumni Association of Sa’adu Zungur University, Bauchi (SAZU), expresses its strong disapproval of a recent false and misleading report broadcast by Albarka Radio Bauchi, which attempted to malign the reputation of our prestigious university and its students following the recent NUBASS screening exercise.

We condemn this unprofessional and defamatory act in the strongest terms, as it represents a deliberate attempt to discredit the university’s image and its outstanding record of academic and moral excellence.

Accordingly, the Alumni Association hereby issues a 72-hour (3-days ultimatum) to Albarka Radio to publicly retract and debunk the misleading report through the same medium of broadcast. Failure to comply will compel the Association to take appropriate legal and institutional actions to defend and protect the image of Sa’adu Zungur University, Bauchi and its alumni community.

2. STATEMENT ON THE RECENT INCIDENT IN THE FACULTY OF LAW

In view of a recent incident involving a few individuals within the Faculty of Law, the Alumni Association of Sa’adu Zungur University wishes to address the situation and reassure the general public, the university community and all alumni of our institution’s continued commitment to excellence, discipline and integrity.

A. The University Management has promptly constituted a Faculty Committee and a University Disciplinary Committee to thoroughly investigate the matter in line with due process and institutional regulations.

B. All parties involved have been invited by the Faculty Committee to present their sides of the case, ensuring fairness, transparency, and justice.

C. The Management has reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy toward any form of misconduct capable of undermining the university’s values and reputation.
The University Community has strongly condemned the act and pledged full cooperation with the ongoing investigation to ensure that appropriate measures are taken.

D. The Management has assured the public that any individual found guilty will face the full disciplinary consequences as provided by the University’s rules and regulations.
Sa’adu Zungur University remains an institution known for moral discipline, academic excellence and professionalism, with the overwhelming majority of its staff being upright, responsible, and highly respected.

E. The Alumni Association urges members of the public and the university community to avoid spreading unverified information and to trust the Management’s handling of the issue.

F. The University reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding students, staff, and all stakeholders, while ensuring a conducive environment for learning and personal development.

G. The Alumni Association commends the University Management for its swift and transparent response, demonstrating strong leadership and adherence to ethical standards.

H. Finally, we wish to remind everyone that challenges of this nature are not unique to any single institution globally; what defines great universities is their ability to confront issues decisively and uphold their integrity as Sa’adu Zungur University is presently doing.

3. NOTICE OF ALUMNI ACTIVITIES

In another development, the Alumni Association wishes to inform all members that an Emergency Congress Meeting has been scheduled to hold November 15th 2025 at the Misau Campus, Faculty of Law. All members are urged to attend as critical matters concerning the welfare and image of the Association and the University will be discussed.
Furthermore, the Association is delighted to announce that its Annual/Inaugural Alumni Lecture has been scheduled for December 27th 2025, in Bauchi. The venue and time will be communicated soon.

The Alumni Association of Sa’adu Zungur University remains steadfast in promoting unity, academic excellence and integrity while defending the honor and image of our alma mater.

Courtesy Visit to the Vice Chancellor, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi

On 2nd October, 2025, as part of the activities marking the second day of the ANUA Bi-Annual Conference, the SAZU Alumni Association, under the leadership of Comr. Umar Babayo, in company of the ANUA President, as well as other University Alumni Presidents and Officials, paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi.

The visit aimed at strengthening collaboration between ANUA member institutions and ATBU, with a focus on enhancing alumni engagement, promoting research driven education, and supporting academic innovation. The Vice Chancellor warmly received the delegation and commended the collective efforts of alumni associations in contributing to institutional growth, mentorship, and societal development.

Deliberations during the visit centered on improving university–alumni partnerships, fostering regional cooperation in higher education, and promoting sustainable academic advancement across African universities.

We sincerely appreciate the Vice Chancellor and the management of ATBU for their warm hospitality, insightful dialogue, and unwavering commitment to academic excellence and leadership development.

Today’s program features the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, as well as the Presentation of Certificates to participants and delegates who have contributed to the success of this year’s conference.

The event brings together alumni leaders, university administrators, and education stakeholders from across the country to engage in strategic dialogue, share insights, and strengthen collaboration for sustainable higher education development in Nigeria.
