'You were a Man who made Men!'
A TRIBUTE TO SIR DR. IBRAHIM YAKUBU LAME.
By Siyi Umar Faruq
To a decent father figure.
To a moral, decent, principled and upright man. To a man of honour and dignity. To someone that inspired not a household, not a community but a generation at large.
To an illustrious son that upheld the image of Bauchi State at the National and International level. To a man that inspired millions.
To a man that shaped the lives of thousands.
To all of us FARIAH FOUNDATION ALUMNUS, you were not just a father but a role model and an icon. We grew up looking up to the giant and bold steps you took in bringing development to our people. You gave thousands of us the foundation on a platform like Fariah Schools to thrive in various endeavors of life. You changed the educational paradigm of not just Bauchi, Nigeria but the whole sub-saharan Africa. You were a firm believer of Education being the biggest weapon in any type of war.
You were a Man who made Men!
You may be gone physically, but the psychological and tangible legacies you left behind shall forever be a reference whenever the word 'development' is uttered by the good people of Bauchi.
Politically, you are a very reformist. Posterity shall remember so well your time as a Senator, S. A to the President, Minister, National leader of various parties, and Gubernatorial aspirant at the 03,07,11 & 15 polls. You served so well. Your thirst to serve us more as a Governor was unfortunately not quenched but we are proud and forever grateful for the love you showed us. We are proud to have shared a lifetime with you.
To all of us indigenes of Bauchi State, we couldn't thank you more for being one of the only few people whom their names are worthy of mentioning as among the great achievers and pilots of social and economic revolutions in the country. Nigeria will miss you not because you served her at different capacity but will miss you as someone that inspired a generational change! We celebrate your impact full life while we moan your demise.
From all of us, we can only pray that Allah (Swt) reward such life well spent as a caring father, people's lover, Humanitarian, Educator of mass, leader and role model be rewarded with Jannatul Firdaus! AMEEN!
My sincere condolence and that of the entire Siyi family to the Lame family, Fariah family, Bauchi State and Nigeria at large.
