FG OPENS FREE ADMISSION FOR FEDERAL TECHNICAL COLLEGES NATIONWIDE

The Federal Ministry of Education has announced that the application portal for admission into Federal Technical Colleges across Nigeria will officially open on Monday, January 26, 2026.

This initiative, approved by Education Minister Dr. Maruf Alausa, is designed to provide young Nigerians with practical, industry-relevant skills.

The program is a core part of a broader government strategy to boost vocational education and national economic growth.

According to a statement from the Ministry’s spokesperson, Boriowo Folasade, the Federal Government will fully fund the education of all successful candidates upon admission.

The program is open to prospective students aged between 13 and 20 years.

Applicants must complete their registration through the official NABTEB portal at https://student.nabteb.gov.ng.

The Ministry emphasized that a valid National Identification Number (NIN) is mandatory for all candidates.

The registration window closes on Sunday, May 24, 2026, with the National Common Entrance Examination scheduled to take place nationwide on Saturday, June 6, 2026.

Parents and guardians are advised to seek information only through official government channels.

The Ministry reiterated that expanding access to quality technical training is vital for empowering the youth and ensuring sustainable development.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is pleased to inform the general public, prospective candidates, parents, guardians, and all stakeholders that the registration process for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) has officially been announced and is set to commence on 26 January 2026 (Vending of E-PIN 19th January 2026).

Candidates are strongly advised to prepare in advance by:

• Ensuring a valid National Identification Number (NIN) linked to their details.

• Creating or verifying a JAMB profile (profile code generation is already ongoing in many cases).

• Having a valid, functional personal email address and phone number.

• Preparing necessary documents and fees (registration fees remain unchanged from previous years).

UTME E-PIN Vending and Sales:

• Sales of UTME application documents and E-PINs ( Jan 19, 2026 - February 26, 2026, while Registration begins on 26 January 2026 to February 28th 2026.

Direct Entry (DE) Registration:
•- Sale of 2026 Direct Entry application documents commence 02 March 2026 to April 2026 (DE registration is conducted at designated JAMB State and Zonal Offices only).

Prospective candidates are urged to visit accredited CBT centres for registration.

1. Candidates must be at least 16 years old by 30 September 2026.

2. Those below 16 may apply but cannot be admitted.

3. Five (5) O’Level credits including English Language are required.

Direct Entry (DE)
1. Candidates must possess ND, NCE, IJMB, NABTEB, HND, or a Degree.

2.All DE candidates must register through JAMB.

📱 PROFILE & E-PIN

Candidates must create a JAMB Profile using their personal phone number.

SMS “NIN” to 55019 or 66019 to generate profile code.

E-PIN must be purchased from approved outlets (banks, online platforms, etc.).

🧬 BIOMETRICS & REGISTRATION

Ten fingerprints and facial capture are compulsory.

Registration is individual, no group registration.

Biometric verification will be required at the exam centre.

Any biometric mismatch = disqualification.

📝 EXAMINATION DETAILS

UTME will be Computer-Based (CBT).

Candidates must print exam slips showing date, time, and venue.

No change of exam centre after registration.

📚 MOCK UTME

Optional but recommended.

Helps candidates familiarize themselves with CBT exams.

Only available at selected centres.

🚫 WARNINGS & PENALTIES

No multiple registrations.

No impersonation.

Forgery or false results = disqualification + prosecution.

Phones, smart devices, or cheating materials are strictly prohibited.

🌍 FOREIGN CENTRES

Available in UK, Saudi Arabia, UAE, South Africa, among others.

Foreign candidates pay $30.

"According to Psychologists, there are four types of Intelligence:

1) Intelligence Quotient (IQ)

2) Emotional Quotient (EQ)

3) Social Quotient (SQ)

4) Adversity Quotient (AQ)

1. Intelligence Quotient (IQ): this is the measure of your level of comprehension. You need IQ to solve maths, memorize things, and recall lessons.

2. Emotional Quotient (EQ): this is the measure of your ability to maintain peace with others, keep to time, be responsible, be honest, respect boundaries, be humble, genuine and considerate.

3. Social Quotient (SQ): this is the measure of your ability to build a network of friends and maintain it over a long period of time.

People that have higher EQ and SQ tend to go further in life than those with a high IQ but low EQ and SQ. Most schools capitalize on improving IQ levels while EQ and SQ are played down.

A man of high IQ can end up being employed by a man of high EQ and SQ even though he has an average IQ.

Your EQ represents your Character, while your SQ represents your Charisma. Give in to habits that will improve these three Qs, especially your EQ and SQ.

Now there is a 4th one, a new paradigm:

4. The Adversity Quotient (AQ): The measure of your ability to go through a rough patch in life, and come out of it without losing your mind.

When faced with troubles, AQ determines who will give up, who will abandon their family, and who will consider su***de.

Parents please expose your children to other areas of life than just Academics. They should adore manual labour (never use work as a form of punishment), Sports and Arts.

Develop their IQ, as well as their EQ, SQ and AQ. They should become multifaceted human beings able to do things independently of their parents.

Finally, do not prepare the road for your children. Prepare your children for the road."
