I Didn’t Choose Teaching.Teaching Chose Me — And Yesterday, My 4-Year-Old Proved Why. 👩🏽🏫❤️
My journey as a teacher keeps getting more exciting.
Yesterday, my 4-year-old American student repeated our Indigenous language with so much enthusiasm and joy that I lost my words... and almost lost my composure. In that moment, I felt it again — that deep, soul-level fulfillment.
Thank You, God, for leading me down this path to be an educator.
I have lost count of the lives touched through this noble profession. But I remember the faces. The “Aha!” moments. The proud smiles when a child masters something new.
I am fulfilled being a teacher.
Fulfilled as a Food and Nutrition teacher.
Fulfilled as an Indigenous Language Educator.
Fulfilled as a Nutrition and Dietary Counsellor.
Because when you teach a child to nourish their body and to speak the language of their ancestors, you don’t just educate a mind — you save a heritage.
Teachers: Your sacrifice is seen. You plant seeds that will lead nations. You are a nation builder, not “just a teacher.”
And I am so proud to be one!
