YOU DON'T ALWAYS NEED MONEY TO BECOME KNOWLEDGEABLE.
One of our strongest beliefs at The Refined Knowledge Academy is that lack of money should not become an excuse for lack of growth.
Yes, there is a time to invest heavily in your education.
There is a time to pay for premium courses, certifications, mentorships, books, conferences, and access to some of the best minds in your field.
And by God's grace, 2027 is a year we are looking forward to investing even more intentionally in education and certifications, including exploring some of the excellent learning programmes offered by Google.
But here's the thing:
You can start learning long before you can afford expensive courses.
There are so many free and affordable resources available today.
The question is: Are you using them?
Here are four things that have helped us continue learning and developing, even without spending a fortune.
1. THE QUALITY OF PEOPLE AROUND YOU
Never underestimate the power of having the right people around you.
Mentors, teachers, friends, leaders and people who are further ahead of you can expose you to ideas, perspectives and possibilities you may never have discovered on your own.
Personally, mentorship has played a huge role in my growth in areas like mindset, personal development, leadership, content creation and digital skills.
A good mentor can save you years of unnecessary mistakes.
Sometimes, the knowledge you need is not sitting inside a course.
It is sitting inside someone's experience.
2. RESEARCH
Research. Research. Research.
Ask questions.
Search.
Read.
Investigate.
Use tools like ChatGPT.
Browse the internet.
When you don't understand something, don't proudly remain ignorant. 😂
Go looking for answers.
The internet contains an incredible amount of free knowledge.
You can learn about business, technology, writing, marketing, personal branding, digital skills and countless other subjects without paying a dime.
You just need to learn how to find quality information.
3. PODCASTS, INTERVIEWS & DOCUMENTARIES
We live in a time where you can listen to people with decades of experience share their knowledge while you're walking, cooking, commuting or simply relaxing.
Use it.
I genuinely enjoy listening to interviews, even the ones other people might consider "boring." 😂
Sometimes, I can listen to an insightful conversation from beginning to end and continue thinking about what I learned long after it is over.
And that's the beautiful thing about valuable knowledge:
You don't always exhaust it the first time you consume it.
You can return to the same interview, book or documentary months later and discover something completely different because you have grown.
4. READING
Read.
If you love books, read books.
If reading isn't your preferred learning style, listen to podcasts and interviews.
Watch documentaries.
Take courses.
Have conversations with people who know more than you.
The goal isn't to consume information just so you can say, "I'm learning."
The goal is to continuously expose your mind to quality knowledge and actually apply what you learn.
So, if you currently don't have money to pay for expensive courses, please don't sit around waiting for money before you start developing yourself.
Start with what you have.
Find quality people to learn from.
Research.
Read.
Listen.
Watch.
Ask questions.
Use the free resources available to you.
Then, when you eventually have the money to invest in structured courses, certifications, mentorships and other forms of education, you will be able to go deeper.
We're looking forward to that season too.
But until then:
We are not waiting to become wealthy before we become knowledgeable.
We're learning with what we have.
We're building with what we know.
And we're refining as we grow.
Because at The Refined Knowledge Academy, we believe that knowledge should not merely be consumed. It should be refined, applied, transformed into value, and eventually turned into impact and wealth.
Start where you are.
Learn. Create. Grow.
What has helped you learn and grow without spending a lot of money?
