Meet Chelsea Doman — single mom of four, data-driven leader, and proud 2024 Gies Online at Illinois Gies Business iMBA grad.
From pipeline operations to nonprofit leadership to corporate analytics, Chelsea’s career has never fit into one box. But when she decided to go back to school, she knew she needed a program that fit her life.
💡 “When I saw Illinois had an online MBA with Coursera, it was like I found a unicorn.”
For Chelsea, this wasn’t about chasing a title — it was about fueling her curiosity, hitting a longtime personal goal, and preparing for whatever comes next. Along the way, subjects that once intimidated her (like statistics) became her strengths.
🌍 What she didn’t expect? The community. “Every day, I met people from around the world who wanted to learn and collaborate. Gies is such a unique network — everyone’s in it together.”
Balancing family, career, and classes wasn’t easy — but flexibility, persistence, and a genuine love of learning kept her going. Today, Chelsea’s a Data Engineering Manager at Sargento Foods — and she says the biggest lesson wasn’t from a textbook: “I expected to gain business knowledge. What I didn’t expect was to understand myself better. That was life-changing.”

⚙️ Newton’s Laws of Motion
1st Law: Body remains at rest or uniform motion unless acted upon by force.
2nd Law: F = m × a
3rd Law: Every action has equal and opposite reaction.
🌍 Other Key Concepts
Gravitation → Attraction between masses.
Acceleration due to gravity → 9.8 m/s²
Mass → Amount of matter.
Weight → Force of gravity on mass.
Density → Mass/volume.
Pressure → Force/area.
Pascal’s Law → Pressure in fluid transmitted equally.
Archimedes’ Principle → Upward buoyant force = weight of displaced fluid.
Work-Energy Theorem → Work = change in kinetic energy.
Kinetic Energy → Due to motion.
Potential Energy → Due to position.
