The Many Travails of a 58 Years old Mathematics Teacher Who is due for Retirement in Less Than 2 years Yet without an Investment to Fall Back To…Now she is in serious Financial Mess.

So when I finally met the woman—the Math Teacher I was glad and we had some time talking and I threw some questions at her just to find out more about her. I discovered that she is one of the very best mathematics teacher around and that if she handles people who do not know or like math, that person will certainly fall in love with the subject and become good at it.

Her style of teaching the subject is so unique.

I told her right away, ma you will not go into agriculture. You may not make it.
Oh! She was a bit cast down after I said that to her.

Why did I tell her so? Am I hiding something or preventing her from getting into agriculture or is it that it is not profitable?

No.

Agriculture is very profitable—I know this because I have and run a multi million naira farm business.

But, by the time I was done with her—she got a business worth millions already in her hands but she did not know it all these years until I showed it to her.

I simply told her, madam you have to produce info products. Info products? She asked in confusion.

Before I go on, let me ask you this question: Do you know about Barney and Friends? Further, Do you know how much that business makes? FOOD FOR THOUGHT.

Let’s go on…

So I broke it down for her. I said you have wealth of experience teaching Math and you do it in a very unique style. Info products are actually information product. I told the Math Teacher, that you have to package and begin to sell your years of experience in Teaching mathematics and allied subjects.

You can put your knowledge in any format, starting from books, DVDs, blogs, workshops, TV shows and so on and so forth.

Over the next couple of days I worked with her to finetune her area of focus in the information marketing space.

And she settled for using a technology—Learning Management System (LMS) to create what I call more or less a Mathematics School on the internet—where she will be offering the teaching of mathematics in various fun ways to students and with a lot of illustrations to go with it.

Today, the Math Teacher has an array of info products that she can be profiting from. She even now has an interesting line up of mathematics shows and several other initiatives—and she may well be producing a Mathematics version of Barney and Friends in Nigeria.

The possibilities are truly endless for her and it is only herself that can limit the speed of her progress and advancement into the millionaire status even at her old age.

And what’s more she can now invest in agriculture if truly she has interest and not merely to use it as a survival strategy or an escape routine for her financial challenge.

Here is the thing…

You can do the same today and it does not matter your subject area—whether it is sciences, art, social sciences, classics, language—it doesn’t really matter. You can make a lot of difference in the Nigerian Educational space.

I can tell you that there is paucity of local content in the African Educational space and indeed Nigeria.

How many cartoons do we have out there that are African or Nigerian? Where are our fine art teachers who should be taking advantage of available technology to produce local contents learning systems for us? Where are our language teachers who should do similar thing?

The market is so wide and the opportunities to make money within the Nigerian Education space are endless.

There are a lot we can do from re-writing our textbooks to producing a comprehensive social learning experience.
