How to secure Residence in New Zealand with WAEC in 2 years.

It is no longer news that the New Zealand government added 91 new occupations to its Green List, early November. This means these occupations, most of which can be studied in New Zealand, with only WAEC or NECO, are now eligible for Residence.

Here are important tips.

1. If you have WAEC or NECO, you qualify. You may, however, need to take IELTS and score 5.5

2. Come and study a vocational course in New Zealand, such as Level 4 Healthcare Diploma, Carpentry, HVAC, Mechanic Technicians, Electrical Technician, Trades, etc. These courses run from 5 months to 9.5 months. Tuition fees is from 9 -13.3 million naira.

3. Complete the course in record time. Then apply for a job in New Zealand and secure one. These occupations are already in demand so you can be positive to land a job in good time.

4. With a job offer you get the 5 years Accredited Employer Work Visa. The new rules for securing Residence are set for mid 2026. Meaning you are right on time. From existing policies for similar roles, you can be sure to secure Residence in New Zealand after 2 years of working. It is made Straight to Residence, it means your job offer makes you eligible for Residence straight.

5. Secure New Zealand Residence and you can live in New Zealand indefinitely. You can bring your family and your children can school for free and enjoy public free healthcare.

6. Live in New Zealand for 2 years and congratulations, you are a Permanent Resident. You get approved in one week or less.

7. Live another 3 years on your PR and you are a New Zealand citizen with Kiwi passport. You can travel to 190 countries without applying for visa. You can also move to Australia and become a Permanent Resident.

The CAS issuance deadline is 15th August 2025. Ensure all payments and documents are submitted on time

International applicants who received an offer to study at Oxford Brookes University for the September 2025 intake between 5th June & 31st July 2025 are reminded that to be eligible for the £2,000 International Student Scholarship, the tuition fee deposit must be paid by 31st July 2025.
