Mass wedding vs Mass poverty

The governor of Nassarawa state said that his state receives more than three times the former allocation. As do many other states. That’s how some of the savings from subsidy removal is spent. I have explained here that there was really no “savings” several times. A fact echoed by Adedeji the NRS chairman.

As stated in the constitution, the FG has no right to keep such “savings”. It must be shared across the three tiers of government.

The governor of Akwa Ibom said he used the extra money to clear arrears of pensions and pay down loans the state had.

Governor Jackson has used the funds to upgrade infrastructure across Osun state. Forget that some bridges he has built are actually not needed, but he has built them.

Kano has over 900,000 children out of school. It has one of highest poverty indicators. Well the governor has decided to get more people married. A mass wedding is his priority for his people. He might have grander ideas but politics is about delivering what the people want. They apparently want more wives. So he has given it to them.

In another 6 years, out of school kids will be about 1.2m. What does it matter if people are banging their productivity away?

Poverty is multi dimensional. The causes sometimes rooted in culture.

Three things I no longer fear are: Hell, death, and poverty.

Strange, isn't it?

Many people spend their entire lives being controlled by one or all of these three...

Some obey because they're terrified of Hell fire

Some remain silent because they're afraid of death.

Some compromise their values because they're scared of poverty.

But I discovered something..

The day I stopped allowing fear to become my master was the day my mind became truly free.

Don't get me wrong, I still respect life, work hard to avoid poverty, and strive to do good.

But I no longer make decisions simply because someone says, "Be afraid!"...

Never, not me or my kids anymore...

I choose truth over intimidation...

Humanity over fanaticism.

Wisdom over blind fear.

After all... death is inevitable, poverty is temporary, and since God truly exists, I believe He values sincerity more than fear-driven obedience.

A free mind is one of the greatest blessings a human being can ever have...

If I give you ₦100 million today... will you still be broke in 5 years?
Most people will quickly answer:
"Never!"

But let me tell you something that may shock you.
Many people don't become poor because they don't have money.
They become poor because they don't have a system.
Because....
Money without a system is like pouring water into a basket.
It doesn't matter how much you pour.
It will still leak.

Let me explain this the way I would explain it to Mama Ngozi who sells tomatoes in the village.

Imagine Mama Ngozi wakes up every morning by 5 a.m.
She carries tomatoes to the market.
She sells.
She makes a profit.
Tomorrow...
She starts all over again.
Now imagine one day her son says,
"Mama, instead of you carrying tomatoes every morning, why don't we buy directly from farmers, package them properly, supply restaurants and supermarkets, and let other people help us sell?"
Do you see the difference?
Mama Ngozi was working in the business.
Her son started building a system.
That is how wealth begins.
Not by working harder...
But by building something that can continue working.

Here are the steps that can transform your life and business.

Step 1: Solve a real problem.
One thing I have learned in business is that:
People don't pay because you have passion.
People pay because they have problems.
If somebody is hungry...
They don't need your motivation.
They need food.
If somebody's phone is bad...
They don't need your story.
They need someone to repair it.
If a business cannot find customers...
They don't need grammar.
They need someone who can help them grow.

That is why before you start any business, ask yourself:
"What problem am I solving?"
Because where there is no problem...
There is no money.

Step 2: Create a simple solution.
Many people spend years waiting for the perfect idea.
There is no perfect idea.
Start with what you already know.
Can you design?
Start.
Can you bake?
Start.
Can you repair phones?
Start.
Can you teach Mathematics?
Start.
The biggest companies in the world didn't start as giants.
They started by solving one problem.

Step 3: Build a process.
This is where many people fail.
If your business only works when you are around...
You don't own a business.
You own another job.
Write down how things are done.
How do customers order?
How do you deliver?
How do you collect payment?
How do you solve complaints?
Once you have a process...
Anybody can follow it.
That is called a system.

Step 4: Charge for the value you create.
Many people are afraid to charge.
Some say,
"I don't want people to think I love money."
Listen carefully.
Money is not evil.
Money is simply proof that someone found value in what you offer.
If you solve people's problems...
Don't be ashamed to charge.
Businesses survive because customers pay.

Step 5: Make the system work without you.
This is the final stage.
Use technology.
Use tools.
Train people.
Create routines.
Little by little...
Remove yourself from doing everything.
Because if the business stops the day you travel...
You have not built a system.
You have only built a stressful job.

Now....
Let me tell you something many people never realize.
Go to your village.
Look at the biggest businesses there.
The owner is not the one doing everything.
The owner built a system.
Go to the biggest supermarket.
The owner is not standing at the cashier.
Go to the biggest bank.
The owner is not counting cash.
Go to the biggest restaurant.
The owner is not cooking every plate of food.
Why?
Because they built systems.

That's why....One of the biggest mistakes I have seen young people make is believing that hard work alone creates wealth.
Hard work is important.
But hard work without a system keeps you busy.
You don't build wealth by luck.
Luck is for people with no plan.
Wealth is built by a system.
A system turns today's effort into tomorrow's income.
And if you don't have one... You are working inside someone elses.

So before you ask,
"How do I become rich?"
Ask a better question.
"What system can I build that continues solving problems even when I'm asleep?"
That single question can change your life forever.
Because wealth is not built by luck.
Wealth is built by systems.

Some years ago, people from the Benin Republic, Togo and other nearby countries trooped into Nigeria to work as tilers, masons, and plasterers. They did a great job and became really popular. Those in the construction industry will agree with me. However, something is happening.

5 years ago, what you are looking at was a pineapple field. Today, Benin's Glo-Djigbé Industrial Zone employs 25,000 people in textiles, cashews, and ceramics. Read that again; 25,000 people have full time and secured jobs courtesy of the government's partnership with private sector business people.

This is why many of them are going back. Their economy and currency are getting better and stronger than ours.

We borrow money from the World Bank, Afreximbank, IMF, a consortium of local banks, raise bonds, fast and pray, yet nothing seems to be changing for good at a noticeable level.

Our leaders are spending scarce resources on building worship centres, palaces for kings and musical instruments for churches.

Every country on the continent is leaving Naija behind.

It is not life that we are living in Nigeria.
