Dear Graduates,

First, I thank God for bringing you safely through your academic journey at Paul University. Your years here were not without challenges. There were difficult moments, days of scarcity, and times when everything seemed dry and uncertain. At times, you felt the University's rules and regulations were burdensome. Sometimes, you disobeyed them and even joined others in taking the law into your own hands.

There were also moments when you did not honour God as you should. Yet, in His mercy, He sustained you. Many times, you sinned without remorse, but He did not abandon you. There were occasions when you neglected prayer, yet He continued to preserve and protect you.

Now, you are stepping into a new phase of life, where even greater challenges await. As your Chaplain, I wish to remind you that lasting success is built on discipline, order, respect for lawful authority, and reverence for God. Anyone who believes they can achieve true and enduring success without God is living under a dangerous illusion.

As you go into the world, walk with God. Let His Word guide your decisions, His presence strengthen you in adversity, and His grace shape your character. May He grant you wisdom, favour, integrity, and success in all your endeavours.

Congratulations on your graduation, and may God bless and keep you always.

Ven. Dr. Onyeka Egwuonwu

Mission Strategies of the CMS in Igboland: Lessons for the Church Today

The Church Missionary Society (CMS) succeeded in spreading the Gospel in Igboland through thoughtful and holistic mission strategies. They studied the local environment scientifically instead of relying on superstition, addressed health challenges like malaria with practical solutions, and recognized the importance of language by helping develop Standard Igbo (Igbo Izugbe) for effective evangelism.
The CMS also combined Gospel preaching with education, agriculture, and vocational skills, following the principle of "the Bible and the Plough," believing that spiritual transformation should be accompanied by economic empowerment. In addition, they strategically engaged traditional rulers and institutions, using them as gateways for spreading Christianity.
The article concludes that the Church today should revisit and adapt these timeless CMS strategies cultural understanding, accurate communication, holistic ministry, and strategic engagement to make evangelism more effective in the modern world.

A New Chapter of Service Begins

Join us this Sunday for the Handover and Anointing of the Chapel Stewards as we commit a new team of faithful servants into God's hands for the work ahead.

May the Lord grant them wisdom, strength, humility, and grace to serve His Church with diligence and love.

We invite you to join us in prayer for these stewards as they begin this sacred responsibility.

"Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant." Mark 10:43
