YOUR PVC, YOUR POWER — ADC ANAMBRA STATE URGES MASSIVE VOTER REGISTRATION

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Anambra State Chapter, hereby calls on all eligible Nigerians, especially Ndi Anambra, youths, first-time voters, women, and patriotic citizens, to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration exercise organized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

As Nigeria gradually approaches the 2027 General Elections, this remains a critical opportunity for citizens to register, update, or transfer their voter information in order to actively participate in deciding the future of our democracy.

Voting remains the strongest constitutional tool through which the people can demand accountability, good governance, development, and credible leadership.

ADC Anambra State therefore encourages all qualified citizens who are yet to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) not to wait until the final days before completing their registration process.

The Party also urges previously registered voters to verify and update their details where necessary to avoid disenfranchisement during future elections.

According to the State Chairman of ADC Anambra State, Comrade Patrick Obianyo:

“The power to shape the future of Nigeria begins with voter registration and active participation in the electoral process. Every eligible citizen must rise above apathy and secure their voting rights ahead of 2027.”

Registration is ongoing at INEC State and Local Government Offices as well as designated registration centers nationwide during official working hours.

ADC Anambra State remains committed to promoting democratic participation, political inclusion, and credible electoral processes across the State and Nigeria at large.

ADC Anambra State Successfully Conducts State Congress, Reaffirms Confidence in Comrade Patrick Obianyo-Led Executive

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Anambra State Chapter, on Thursday, May 7, 2026, successfully conducted its State Congress at Hyton Hotel, Awka, in a peaceful, transparent, and highly organized atmosphere attended by party leaders, members, stakeholders, and observers from across the State.

In a strong demonstration of unity, confidence, and collective resolve, members at the Congress unanimously adopted a consensus arrangement which returned the State Chairman, Comrade Patrick Obianyo, alongside members of the State Working Committee, to continue piloting the affairs of the Party for another tenure.

The Congress followed the successful completion of Ward and Local Government Congresses across the 21 Local Government Areas of Anambra State, further strengthening the Party’s democratic structure and grassroots coordination.

The exercise was conducted in line with the provisions of the ADC Constitution and in compliance with relevant legal and constitutional requirements guiding party congresses and internal democratic processes.

The Congress was supervised by the Chairman of the Congress Electoral Committee, Rev. Frank Agummadu, alongside committee members delegated to oversee the process, while officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and other statutory observers monitored the proceedings to ensure transparency, credibility, and orderliness throughout the exercise.

Addressing delegates and stakeholders shortly after the Congress, the State Chairman, Comrade Patrick Obianyo, expressed deep appreciation to party members for the confidence reposed in his leadership and reaffirmed his commitment towards strengthening ADC structures across the State.

According to him:

“This renewed mandate is a collective victory for every committed member of ADC in Anambra State. We remain focused on unity, grassroots mobilization, internal discipline, and building a stronger political platform capable of delivering purposeful leadership to Ndi Anambra and Nigerians at large.”

He further called on members to remain steadfast, united, and focused on the Party’s collective vision while disregarding activities capable of creating unnecessary division or factional tendencies within the Party.

The State Congress recorded massive participation from Members and stakeholders drawn from all parts of the State and ended successfully with prayers, goodwill messages, and renewed commitment towards the growth and stability of ADC in Anambra State.

Following the successful conduct of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) State Congress in Anambra State, the State Chairman, Comrade Patrick Obianyo, today interacted with members of the press in Awka, where he addressed critical issues concerning the Party, leadership, internal democracy, and preparations towards future political engagements in the State.

Speaking during the media chat, Comrade Patrick Obianyo expressed gratitude to party members and stakeholders for the confidence reposed in his leadership through the consensus arrangement adopted during the Congress.

Responding to questions on his return as State Chairman, he stated that his administration remains committed to strengthening the Party across all levels and ensuring greater unity within ADC Anambra State.

According to him:

“I am deeply honored by the confidence reposed in me and my executive team by members of our great Party. We will continue to do everything humanly possible to reposition ADC in Anambra State and build a formidable political structure capable of delivering quality leadership to Ndi Anambra.”

On concerns surrounding recent political developments and speculations regarding the Party’s structure, Comrade Obianyo clarified that the leadership of ADC Anambra State remains legally recognized and constitutionally grounded.

Addressing questions concerning the political future of ADC following recent national political realignments, Comrade Obianyo maintained that the Party remains strong, viable, and fully prepared for future elections.

“ADC remains a very strong and credible political platform. Many people still believe in the ideology and vision of our Party. Our focus now is grassroots mobilization, strengthening our structures, and preparing for future electoral victories.”

On internal discipline and party unity, the State Chairman reassured members that the leadership remains committed to maintaining peace, order, and inclusiveness within the Party while discouraging any form of division or factional tendencies.

He further called on party faithful across the 21 Local Government Areas of Anambra State to remain united, loyal, and focused on the collective mission of building a stronger ADC capable of providing purposeful leadership and credible opposition in the State and Nigeria at large.
