The covering on the baby skin is sooo beneficial to the baby
1. Contains some antimicrobial organisms
2. Helps maintain the skin pH to prevent infections
3. A natural moisturizer
5. Helps to regulate baby's temperature
4. Keeps baby smelling fresh

How soon after birth did you bath your baby and how often do you bath your baby?

Whoever invented the phrase "Slept like a baby" to mean a calm, quiet and peaceful sleep, didn't HAVE a baby.

Infact, I am not even sure the person has ever SEEN a baby.

The phrase should be, "Slept like an adult without a baby" 🤣😭

My little daughter of 7years just used the word "avenge" while talking with her brother.

I noticed it was a new vocabulary (yes, I monitor their vocabularies).

I called out "Mama, wow! What is the meaning of this word you just used- avenge?" I needed to be sure she understood what she was saying.

She responded, "It means to punish someone very well for all the bad things they did".

At this point, it was clear to me that she understood the word she used in her sentence.

I had find out what her brother did to her to make her say that, and of course discuss with her why it's not good to revenge, and most especially, when dealing with your sibling, and the dangers of avenging.

Then, out of curiosity, I asked her, "Where did you hear that word used? Who said that to you?"

"Mummy" she said, "My class boy said that, he said he will avenge for his mummy"

"Avenge for his mummy? Why would he say that" I quizzed further

"He said he will punish his father for all the bad things he has seen him do to his mummy" my little girl said,

"He said his mummy always cries and hides so that they won't see her, and whenever they ask her why she is sad, she will lie and say that she is happy" she further explained.

These are conversations 7year olds are having 😢😢😢

Parents, these children are not dumb like you think. They see all that go on. They may not do anything now, but the day of reckoning is surely coming, and what you sow is what you shall reap.

Don't let your ego ruin you.

I decided to share this, considering the irresponsible display of a popular Nollywood actor (a father) on social media.

MENINGITIS IN CHILDREN

We are seeing so many cases of meningitis in children recently. I am particularly worried that many cases would be missed or get poorly treated.
-
-
I saw a baby few weeks ago who had subtle features of meningitis but had been diagnosed for malaria and typhoid by a certain doctor. God being on the mother's side, she decided to just call me to seek my opinion and I insisted to see the Lo.
-
-
Behold it was meningitis and the baby was already having signs of raised pressure in the brain. If the baby were to be treated as typhoid and malaria, the result would have been disastrous.
-
-
Meningitis is a very treatable disease but has very dangerous complications if missed or not treated early or treated poorly. It ultimately leads to death or serious brain damage or even convulsions without fever in future.
-
*
The symptoms of meningitis in children can be missed an inexperienced doctor.
-
-
Early symptoms of meningitis include;

👉Tense or bulging soft spot
👉High temperature
👉 Sleepiness
👉Difficulty breathing
👉Extreme shivering
👉Pin prick' rash / marks or purple bruises anywhere on the body
👉Vomiting / refusing to feed
👉Pain / excessive cry if it's a smaller child
👉Cold hands and feet
👉If untreated, can progress to convulsions, loss of consciousness and ultimately death.
-
-
You can see that the symptoms looks like any other illness like malaria, no wonder the diagnosis is easily missed.
-
-
If you think your baby has meningitis or constellation of these symptoms get medical help immediately. Don't self medicate please and don't go to a pharmacist for treatment. You are safer with a Paediatrician.
-
-
And dear healthcare professionals, if you think a child has meningitis, please refer to a center with a Paediatrician. It's the best you can do for that child.

🔷PGA has gotten several reports of members wrongly applying counsel meant for someone else to their child's case, even without reaching out to PGA doctors.

🔷This is a dangerous trend which we have to checkmate it to create a healthful environment for all our members

🔷Hence, PGA now be offering private consultations to its members, this would still be free.

🔷We will no longer make all members consultations public. This would give some of our members some privacy and make everyone feel free to contact us. It would also check wrongful use of the management/ counsel meant for the presenting member.

🔷This is an effort to improve health safety and reliance of our forum as this is not just a social forum but a medical/health forum. So, everything coming out from PGA would be authentic and perculiar to each member.

🔷ALL consultations with PGA doctors would be done ONLY via our EMAIL:
📝 [email protected] 📬

🔷You MUST be a member of PGA forum for the doctors to address your consults/questions.

✅Public posts on our forum are still allowed and welcomed, but it would be approved on individuals basis after due consideration of safety for our members. We may decide to give a general talk about that topic of concern rather than publish individual post.

✅ Please, if you have any topic or gray areas you want us to educate you and other members on, feel free to let us know. By popular demand, we will address the topic via a seminar or written prose.
