ASUU NEC MEETING ON THE 7TH OF NOVEMBER, 2022.

The Academic Staff Union of University's had a meeting yesterday 7th November 2022, on the recent half salary paid to the Academic staffs of Universities for the month of October.

The meeting ended with no positive feedback which indicate their unwilling of embarking into another strike. Until this morning, ASUU were unable to disclose any feedback with regard the ASUU NEC meeting of yesterday 7th November.

Furthermore, According to the remark of the speaker house of representative, he plead with the Academic Staff Union of Universities to please exercise more patience as President Muhammadu Buhari will intervene into the issue soon and bring an end to it.

Students all over the nation should stay calm, those in school should continue with their studies and those at home should resume with immediate effect and continue with their academic routines. Let's all pray that this time the government would negotiate and give ASUU what they are demanding and let students continue with academic exercise.

ASUU-NEC is set to meet in Abuja Today (Monday). The meeting will hold at the University of Abuja. Either to start a new Strike, continue study or scrap session.

You were paid pro rata, not half salaries - FG tells ASUU members.

The Nigeria government says it did not pay members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) half salaries as speculated.
Instead, it only paid lecturers pro rata (according to the days they worked) as it is impossible to pay them for the duration the union had been on strike.

Some of our students are happy, even jubilant, that we were paid half-salaries. They think we are the enemies.

They may not like what’s coming next. Because it’s going to be either another strike (so they can go home and keep jubilating) or cancellation of the ongoing academic session (which will automatically add another year for them to help them keep jubilating). Either way, they will be the victims.

Unless there’s an amicable resolution of the impasse. For us, it’s game on.--- ASUU member.

It is sad we have to tell university students that they should, once again, prepare to take their bags and return home. ASUU will embark on a fresh strike after tomorrow's meeting.
A member of the union said "there is no going back" on this prospective decision.

: It's ok for FG to keep the budgeted money for the 7 and half months' salaries for university lecturers for the suspended 2021/2022 academic session on February 14, to October 13, 2022. But the suspended 2021/2022 academic activities from February 14 to October 13 must be completed before starting a new academic session. So, who will do it?
