WHERE SHALL WE GO?
When we can no longer differentiate a church from
a social gathering, and all what we do in church is
to just have fun.
When we canโ€™t differentiate a choir from a harlot,
and an usher is not different from a waiter.
When the church is no more conducive where shall
we go?
When worship session in a church is just like a
disco night and we cant differentiate a pastor from
a comedian. When salvation message is no longer
the order of the day but prosperity and
entertainment message is now the core course.
When the church is no more conducive where shall
we go?
When prayer warrior now have to go to tongue-
speaking school for utterances, and deliverance
and healing session is now like MTH 201 to be
taught and learned.
When pastor have to pause for members to clap and
shout during sermon in enthusiasm, and all what we
now gain from preaching is now new vocabulary
and word usage.
When the church is no more conducive where shall
we go?
When the church of God is now an exhibition ground
for the latest designer jackets and hats.
And those new convert can no longer come to
church for the fear of being inferior.
When the tithe and offering in church become the
yard-stick for growth, and the little donations from
the faithful member have to suffer for senior
pastorโ€™s birthday.
When the church is no more conducive where shall
we go?
When fund raising is now disguised and referred to
as revival. When the number of souls being lost
from the church is higher than gained souls Where
shall we go is the question right; But never a
rhetoric one.
Where we can go is simply the feet of the old
rugged cross to plead for genuine spiritual revival of the church of our Father.
Someone sent this to me
and I found it thought provoking and beneficial
enough to share.

The new โ€˜Strategic Agenda for the Nairaโ€™ was announced by the Central Bank of Nigeria, generating a healthy national debate. Before we undertake a nationwide enlightenment program (beginning November 2) to educate the public on the new policy, it is important to clarify some of the issues/questions that are emerging.

Needless to emphasize that to appreciate the full impact of the new policy on the Naira/national economy, we need to take the 4-point agenda as a package. As a package, the new agenda will:

better anchor inflation expectations,
strengthen public confidence in the Naira,
make for easier conversion to other major currencies,
reverse tendency for currency substitution,
eliminate higher denomination notes with lower purchasing power,
reduce the cost of production, distribution, and processing of currency,
promote the usage of coins and thus a more efficient pricing and payments system,
promote the availability of cleaner notes,
deepen the Forex market,
ensure more effective liquidity management and monetary policy,
convertibility of the Naira and hence greater confidence in the national economy and lead to greater inflow of foreign investment
position the Naira to become the โ€˜Reference currencyโ€™ in Africa.
However, most of the questions so far pertain to only one aspect of the agenda, i.e., currency Re-denomination. We have monitored the reactions so far, and note that the concerns/questions raised so far are similar to the ones raised in all the countries that have undertaken re-denomination, including Ghana that is still implementing it now. We clarify some of the concerns as follows:

๐–๐ก๐š๐ญ ๐ข๐ฌ ๐œ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ซ๐ž๐ง๐œ๐ฒ ๐ซ๐ž๐๐ž๐ง๐จ๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง?
Currency redenomination is the process where a new unit of money replaces the old unit with a certain ratio. It is achieved by removing zeros from a currency or moving some decimal points to the left, with the aim of correcting perceived misalignment in the currency and pricing structure, and enhancing the credibility of the local currency.

It is by dropping two zeros from the currency or moving two decimal places to the left. The name of the national currency will still be the Naira. However, during the transition period, the existing Naira will be referred to as the โ€œOld Nairaโ€, and the new one to be called the โ€œNew Nairaโ€. After the transition period, the word โ€œNewโ€ may be dropped. For example, the following equivalents will obtain as we re-denominate:

๐Ž๐ฅ๐ ๐๐š๐ข๐ซ๐š
(๐ข.๐ž, ๐„๐ฑ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐๐š๐ข๐ซ๐š ๐š๐ฌ ๐š๐ญ ๐ญ๐จ๐๐š๐ฒ)

The โ€˜new Nairaโ€™ coins and notes will be different from the existing ones i.e. in design, appearance, security features, etc.
All Naira assets and liabilities (including bank deposits), prices, fees, rents, and contracts (including salaries and wages) will be re-denominated by dropping two zeroes or moving two decimal points to the left.
During the โ€˜transition periodโ€™ prices will be quoted in both the โ€˜new Nairaโ€™ and the โ€˜Old Nairaโ€™ and everyone will choose whether to pay in the new or old Naira. These five months will be allowed so that everyone will get familiar with the conversion, and it will become self-evident to everyone why he/she would prefer to transact in the โ€˜new Nairaโ€™ rather than the โ€˜old Nairaโ€™. For example, if a bag of garri sells for N2,000 (old Naira), the price in โ€˜new Nairaโ€™ will automatically be N20. The customer will choose to pay either N2000 in old Naira or N20 in the โ€˜new Nairaโ€™. In the supermarkets and formal markets, prices will be displayed in both โ€˜oldโ€™ and โ€˜newโ€™ Naira. In the informal markets where prices are negotiated, the negotiation could be done in the โ€˜old Nairaโ€™ as usual and converted into the โ€˜new Nairaโ€™ if the customer wishes to pay with the โ€˜new Nairaโ€™. This will ensure that prices do not rise due to rounding-up. The five months are also needed for everyone (formal and informal sectors) to become fully familiar with the conversion. It will become obvious to everyone that N50,000 of the โ€˜old Nairaโ€™ has the same purchasing power as N500 of the โ€˜new Nairaโ€™. The question then would be: why carry N50,000 of old Naira when N500 of the new Naira will buy you the same thing? Consequently, if you have N50,000 in your bank account, it will automatically become N500 in the โ€˜new Nairaโ€™ i.e. if you want to withdraw in the โ€˜new Nairaโ€™ or you can still withdraw N50,000 in โ€˜old Nairaโ€™ during the transition period (January 2024). Similarly, someone whose monthly salary is N50,000 can choose (during the transition period) whether to withdraw and spend the N50,000 in โ€˜old Nairaโ€™ or N500 in the โ€˜new Nairaโ€™. Both would buy him/her the same value of goods and services.
Examples of price equivalents in the new and old Naira could be:

House rent (e.g. a flat in some parts of Nigeria) N5000 per month N50 per month
Stock price of a company Assume it is, say:
N20 or N80
20 kobo or 80 kobo

This decision has been taken by the cbn by the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reduce the surfering of Nigerians and also slow down inflation. If you have the old Naira start getting ready to switch to the new Naira, this message is meant to prepare Nigeria for the changes ahead. It needs to be shared to ensure everyone is well prepared for the new Naira notes. Nigerians
Renowned hope is coming.

A father may not carry pregnancy for nine months, but he is always pregnant with family needs, dreams and visions of a better future.

A father may not know how labor pains feels like, but his pains are not physical, his pains are emotional, and he suffers mental injuries from time to time.

A father may not have breasts to breastfeed babies, yet everyone sucks from his unseen breasts.

A father may not experience monthly periods, but he bleeds from inside when he has no means to provide for his family, when he gets blames for not being like his fellow men, and when he is rarely appreciated for His daily struggles and push just to keep the family together.

May God strengthen all Father's this Tuesday and always.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฟโ˜”

๐Ÿ’ข WHEN THE GAME IS OVER...WE SHALL ALL RETURN HOME ๐Ÿ’ข

A boy was sent by his father to urgently buy him food from a restaurant. On his way going, he was in a hurry because of the urgency of the assignment.

However, on his way back, he passed where his mates were playing football. He slowed down, began to watch the game, gradually slowing down until he finally stopped. He watched for a while and got carried away, he became interested, and indicated his interest in playing, he was invited.

He left the food in the care of some unknown people and entered the field. He forgot the assignment completely and played his heart out. He became the man of the match, dribbled opponents, created chances, scored goals and changed the face of the entire game.

When night came, the owner of the ball picked it up. It was time for everyone to go home; to go back to their parents, the game was over!

๐Ÿ’ฅ It now dawned on the boy after everyone had left that he had actually been sent to buy food by his hungry father. He went to where he kept the food, it had already been eaten by goats and dogs, "but I kept this food with some guys here a moment ago." He said.

He picked the plates, but was no longer happy, all the excitement of the game disappeared, the people clapping for him were all gone, the opponents he was playing against were all gone, the ball itself was gone, time was gone, those selling food were gone, he couldn't buy another!

Regrets took over him, he sluggishly walked home, with tears of sorrow and regrets whilst hiding in the dark.

When people saw him, they asked him why he was crying and hiding in the dark with empty plates! He had left with clean plates full of excitement, but returned with same empty plates, so dirty and stained !

When they asked him "Why he couldn't go home, he said his father will beat him". He knew the implications of a wasted time. So sad, too late.

๐Ÿ”” Hear this: We have a home and a Father to return to at the end of life's journey when all is said and done.

Don't be distracted, don't rejoice when people are clapping for you while doing the wrong things, they won't be there when you are to give an account.

Avoid distractions, we are sent here for an assignment, the Father (GOD) is waiting for us, this ball we are busy playing, when night comes, the owner will pick it, the crowd will disappear, we'll be left alone to go back and give a report to our Maker. What will you tell Him ?

Think about it...๐Ÿค”

Nigerians underrated the man who Forged his birth certificate.
Forged his school certificate.
Forged his identity and name
And nothing happened.

We underrated a man who got away with paying people to impersonate as bishops and pastors.
Got away with drug cases even in the US.
Got away with Muslim/Muslim ticket.
Got away with ethnic bigotry.
And we did nothing.

We underestimated a man who pocketed the media for years and controlled the narrative.
Pocketed Lagos for over 20 years and decided who governs her.
Controlled APC and brought in Buhari to rule after he has even given up.

We did not pay attention when he intentionally refused to attend any presidential debates, but made jokes of them.

We didn't pay attention when his greatest critic, FFK, became his biggest defender.
The "almighty" Wike with his band became his puppet.
The one-time respected lawyer Festus Keyamo became his errand boy.

Maybe, just maybe, we underrated him too much and never saw that he could buy Yakubu and the entire INEC structure, buy the electoral system, and control even the police and judiciary.

We urged him on with our silence and even hailed him as a Chicago boy. We were comfortable calling him Emilokan.

We forgot that the man who ordered for the mass.cre of pr.testing innocent youths in Lagos is prepared to shed as many blo0d as possible to be in A*o Rock, it's his life time dream.

We forgot that for over 10 years this man made solid plans to become the president of Nigeria by all means or wreck it. He even told us about how dirty he was prepared to grab power.

But, he underrated the resilient spirits of the present NIGERIAN youths, and that is his greatest undoing. If we allow this to stand, we should expect this to be only but the beginning. If we win this, we will put an end to impunity, bigotry, godfatherism, hooliganism, thuggery, intimidation and viol.nce.
This robbery should not be allowed.

Don't come telling me it is the will of God. If robbery and viol.nce are the will of God, what then was the purpose for establishing the police department?

May justice prevail!

BROKEN SHEKERE

Many years ago, a powerful king invited the most popular musician in his village to come to serenade him with some good music at his palace.

On receiving the king's call, the musician immediately started to prepare for the visit to the palace.

Playing for the king had been one of the highlights of his career. No one had played more times for the king than this man.

But this new invitation was even more special - it promised to be the biggest invitation he had ever received from the king - he was focussed on making the best of it.

Since he was a one-man band, planning was easy.

He immediately started to prepare for the trip.

This musician was particularly renowned for his musical skills with the Shekere (a traditional musical instrument made from vine gourds and beads - common amongst the Yorubas).

Legends had it that when this musician played his Shekere, the gods are aroused.

The fame of his mastery of the Shekere went ahead of him like lightning ahead thunder.

Before cockcrow on D-Day, he carefully packed his Shekere in his specially designed dried leather skin bag and set out for the journey to the palace.

However, to get to the palace, he needed to cross a stream.

He had almost crossed to the other side of the stream when he slipped and his feet bored into the muddy shores of the retreating waterline.

He slipped and landed on the floor, flat on his face.

As he managed to get up and wipe his muddled face, he noticed his Shekere was broken.

Seeing his broken Shekere, the man broke down in tears.

Since he was alone at that time, no one saw his tears and no one was there to comfort him.

Why would my shekere break on one of the most important days of my life?

Knowing going back was not an option, in his broken state, the musician packed his broken Shekere and continued his journey to the palace.

Once he reached the palace, he was brought before the king to perform.

He brought out his brought shekere and began to play.

Since the Shekere was broken, he needed more energy to produce the sound he wanted.

He poured all his energy into that performance.

People at the palace heard the sound of the broken shekere but thought it was a new musical instrument.

As he sang and beat the Shekere, the palace erupted in dance.

The king soon stood up to join the party. In his happiness, the king performed the legendary dance of the warriors.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves, save the man whose Shekere was broken.

His heart bleed as he performed - everyone was happy, no one saw his tears. No one noticed that his Shekere was broken.

"That was the best music ever", the king said to him. "Thank you, Your Majesty", he replied.

Broken people still give themselves to others.

Some people go out of their way to serve others, to make others happy, but they do this, not because they have everything together, but because they realize their broken shekere sometimes plays good music.

Yes, yes, broken Shekeres sometimes produce the best music.

When you are hurting is one of the best times to serve others. That's one of the best times you get to draw from your inner strength to attempt things you would have ordinarily walked away from.

There are tears people cry when they are alone that no one sees.

With the way some people work, serve others, despite their secret tears, people may hardly notice anything is wrong.

But still, they serve.

You may be broken, but in your brokenness, you can serve you can still help others.

Or do you think it is a coincidence that some of the biggest food banks were founded by people who once went to bed hungry?

Some of the biggest marriage counsellors were people who once struggled or failed in their marriages.

Some of the best writers were people who once struggled to write a correct sentence.

Some Shekeres might be broken, but still, they go out of their way to help broken people heal.

Don't let what is not working keep you from being nice to others.

Yes, broken Shekere still produce the best music

A SLOW JOURNEY TO VENEZUELA

Venezuela is suffering an unprecedented man made humanitarian disaster. It resembles a country at war and some of their major problems include extreme food and medicine shortage, rampant crime, and constant electricity blackouts.

Some of these problems resemble another country I know.

Venezuela is experiencing what Economists describe as an extreme case of hyperinflation. In this case, the prices of goods double every 26 days. One source reported that a cup of coffee cost 450 Bolivares in 2016. By 2019, the same cup of coffee was a shocking 2.5 million Bolivares.

90% of Venezuelans live in poverty and their currency is practically worthless. The poor citizens have to rely on the barter system to get what they want while the rich ones use the US dollar.

But it was not always so...

In the 1960s and 1970s, Venezuela was the richest country in Latin America. You might call her the giant of Latin America.

This resembles another Giant of a continent I know.

If you told South Americans 50 years ago that in the early 21st century, Venezuela would be among the poorest countries in the world, they would have laughed. At that time, Venezuela was one of the wealthiest countries in Latin America.

Forget Russia and Saudi Arabia. Venezuela has the largest oil reserves on earth. Over 18% of the world's reserves are in Venezuela. Leaning on it's oil industry and exports, she became richer and richer in the 1960s.

In the 1970s, oil prices quadrupled almost over night. Venezuela became insanely wealthy.

This resembles the phenomenon described as the oil boom of the 1970s in another country I know.

Because of this exteme wealth, Venezuela fell into what is described as a RESOURCE CURSE. This happens when a country fails to diversify it's economy, relying heavily on one resource. Instead of using the oil money to develop it's agriculture or manufacturing processes, the country imported most of what it needs and pays for it with the oil money.

This resembles another country I know.

Unfortunately when a country depends solely on one resource, that nation's future is dictated by the price and demand of that resource. This became a problem for Venezuela as in the late 1970s, the demand for oil dropped.

In 1980, oil price was 34 dollars per barrel and in 1986, it had dropped to 10 dollars per barrel. This was the beginning of trouble for Venezuela. The government was in debt. It had debts of over 33 billion dollars.

What did it do, well it turned to the IMF for loans. It started borrowing more and more money just to keep the country moving.

This resembles another country I know. Maybe it is on a journey to Venezuela.

Some of the conditions for these loans were austerity measures on the citizens. Subsidies were removed on many goods, prices went up and life became very hard for the citizens. A riot broke out in 1989 and the military intervened by shooting and killing protesters.

Sounds familiar? It resembles another country you might have heard of. Is it on a journey to Venezuela?

The situation became worse when the rich transferred their money abroad. There was a capital flight. The rich bought up US dollars and set up foreign bank accounts. It means that the wealth was no longer in Venezuela or serving it in any way.

And then Hugo Chavez happened!

He contested the presidential elections promising the citizens CHANGE!
In 1998 he was surprisingly voted into power.

Sounds familiar?

When he took power, he went on a spending spree on social programs. To do this, he had to use the country's oil profits thereby creating an even bigger dependence on oil. The social programs put some money in people's pockets but it was a temporary fix.

Unfortunately Chavez didn't spend any money maintaining oil facilities. This led to a slow down of production.

Chavez also failed to diversify the economy. He was a popular and charismatic leader who had promised CHANGE! So he was quite popular. He started having autocratic tendencies and thought he could do whatever he wanted. He put his friends and supporters in positions of power regardless of their expertise and expanded the military's power and control.

Doesn't this resemble another country that you know? A country that's slowly moving towards Venezuela?

The final straw happened in 2010 when Chavez declared an economic war. He devalued the currency to make up for budget deficit. also, he made it difficult for the citizens to get Forex for their imports.

What resulted was the massive hyperinflation that persists today.

Chavez died in 2013 of cancer. His successor, made things worse for the economy. He ruled nu decree, he arrested opposition leaders and shut down websites critical of him.

Venezuela has the world's largest oil reserves but citizens queue for days to get petrol in their cars. Why? There are no working refinaries. All the refined oil is imported. So people are getting rich on oil importation while the rest of the country dies of poverty.

Am I still talking about Venezuela or another country I know? It's hard to tell the difference at this point.

By 2016, inflation in Venezuela was 800%. Today, it is around 9000%

In summary, Venezuela's problems were caused by the following factors.

1. Extreme dependence on oil (the resource curse).
2. Failure to diversify the economy.
3. Political and economic mismanagement.
4. Corruption.
5. Plummeting oil prices.

Hmmmm.

This formula will always produce the same result whether in Latin America or West Africa!

Any country that goes down this road is unfortunate.

IT IS ON A SLOW JOURNEY TO VENEZUELA!!!
