Last month, we participated in the All Nigerian Youth Debate Championship (ANYDC) 2026, held at Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu. The tournament brought together over 160 participants from more than 14 universities across Nigeria, making it one of the most competitive debate championships in the country and as usual with our culture of excellence, the club distinguished itself across multiple categories including Public Speaking, Novice Debate, Open Debate, and Adjudication.

The club recorded complete breaks in open and novice categories of the tournament with 3 open speakers in the Open Finals and two teams in the Novice Finals, and two speakers in the Public Speaking Finals. Beyond this, the club produced the Best Open Speaker and Champion of the tournament, Ebubechukwu Anene E Boo Bae and the Best Public Speaker Nelson Nwadike as well as several top speakers and judges across the public speaking and debating categories.

At the Nigerian Débatteur D’or Awards, the club received five nominations and secured three major national awards, including the prestigious Debate Union of the Year 2025 title, a recognition of the steady growth and excellence of the club within Nigeria’s debating community.

Other special recognition at the Débatteur D’or Awards included:

Deputy Leader of Opposition of the Year — Chinaka Chigozie

Government Whip of the Year — Ebubechukwu Anene

The club extends sincere appreciation to the university for its continued financial and institutional support, which made participation and success at the championship possible. This support remains central to the club’s ability to compete and excel on national platforms. We finally thank our ever supportive alumni for their immense contribution to the club.

This is NAUDC! We are Invictus!

We had an amazing run at the recently concluded Royal Rhetorics Anniversary Cup, hosted by Royal Rhetorics. NAUDC speakers clinched top spots among the top speakers in both the novice and open categories after some truly heated rounds.

We had two novice teams in the novice finals, and one of them brought home the win in a unanimous 5-0 decision. Impressively, our open team took the heated grand finals from Opening Government in a commanding 5-2 victory.

Winning both the novice and open streams and achieving top speakers and judges spots at the final edition of this prestigious tournament is such a great feat for NAUDC. It also clearly shows that we're a force to be reckoned with and we're consistent with our ideology of being excellent. Just last week, one of our own, Chiemelie Okoye, emerged as joint champion at the Kampala Opens 2026.

We congratulate our trailblazing members on this outstanding achievement and wish them all the best in future tournaments!

Our goal remains consistent: to build upon the strong trajectory already in place and expand the NAUDC community. We have full confidence that our new leaders will inspire growth and excellence during their tenure.

Please join us in wishing them a successful and impactful tenure!

As 2025 comes to an end, we are super excited to reflect on an incredible debate year marked by numerous achievements by our members across debating and their personal lives.

We sincerely appreciate the school management for being ever supportive of the growth of our club. We also extend our gratitude to our wonderful alumni, who laid the foundation for the club’s present and future success and continue to support us morally, financially, and in many other ways.

Special thanks go to the club leadership for working tirelessly toward the growth of our members. And finally, we thank our members—lovely, wonderful people—who have left no stone unturned in placing NAUDC at the top of the debate map. With four tournament wins, multiple final appearances, and several top speaker and judge awards across debate and public speaking, it would be fair to say that NAUDC had an outstanding year.

2025 was great, and it speaks volumes about how promising 2026 will be for us. If you can feel the excitement in the air, it’s simply us celebrating life, growth, and success.

The highlight of our Debate Wrapped remains our NAUDC debate family: brilliant and inspiring speakers for whom the future holds so much promise.

Here’s to a prosperous New Year!

And that’s a wrap on BeatdBarz 2.0!🎤🔥

Over the past few days, we witnessed growth, courage, sharp arguments, powerful speeches, and a community fully showing up for itself and we couldn’t be more proud of what BeatdBarz 2.0 turned out to be.

A huge thank you to our CAP, whose support and guidance made this tournament possible, and to our Masters Round speakers, who inspired our members — especially our newer female speakers — to stay active, be bold, and dare to dream.

We are deeply grateful to all our judges for their time, patience, and thoughtful feedback, and to every participant who showed up, spoke up, and gave their best. You are the reason this tournament mattered.
BeatdBarz 2.0 was a huge success but the next edition would be a lot more!
