7 THINGS YOU SHOULD AVOID WHEN YOU ARE TIRED

Fatigue affects you mentally, physically, and psychologically.
When you are tired, your brain, mind, and body are not well coordinated.
Engaging in certain activities while tired is risky — to your health, your life, and the lives of others.

I’ve learnt the hard way. Never try these when you are tired:

#1 DO NOT DRIVE OR OPERATE MACHINERY
Most accidents happen when a sleepy driver forces himself to keep going.
Sometimes when the accident happens, the sleep departs… or someone’s life departs.

#2 DO NOT COOK OR LEAVE ANYTHING ON FIRE
When you are tired after work, there’s the temptation to start cooking and then dose off in the sitting room or bedroom.
This can lead to gas explosions, fire outbreaks, and houses burning down.

#3 DO NOT USE ELECTRICAL GADGETS OR MACHINES
Cookers, hotplates, irons, washing machines, pumps, kettles, water boilers, etc.
Using these while tired has caused fire outbreaks, loss of valuable assets, and loss of lives.

#4 DO NOT TAKE MEDICATIONS
When tired, you can easily take the wrong dose or the wrong drug.
I once went to a pharmacy to get my prescription. The lady gave me the wrong drugs.
It was only the nurse who was to administer the injection that cross-checked and caught the error.

#5 DO NOT ENGAGE IN ONLINE INTERACTIONS OR TRANSACTIONS
When tired, you are vulnerable to social errors that can damage your career and reputation.
Online transactions while tired can lead to costly, unredeemable mistakes.

#6 DO NOT ENGAGE IN COUNSELLING OR CONFIDENTIAL DISCUSSIONS
You may say things you shouldn’t, or even doze off mid-conversation.
It can open you up to ridicule and break trust.

#7 DO NOT STAY IN PUBLIC PLACES WHERE FATIGUE CAN EXPOSE YOU
Dozing, farting, drooling, snoring, excessive yawning…
Fatigue has a way of exposing our “social weaknesses” at the worst times.

Rest first. Your life and the lives of others depend on it.

Which one have you learnt the hard way?

MAY THE CALLS YOU IGNORE TODAY NEVER BECOME YOUR REGRETS TOMORROW

He called several times that evening. I didn’t answer. It was raining heavily in my area, so I decided to wait until it stopped before calling back. I eventually called back that night and spoke with my dad for about eight minutes. We talked about so many things. I didn’t know that was the last time I would hear his voice. The next day, my sister called to tell me our dad had passed on.

Someone reading this can relate.
There have been times someone called, but you didn’t pick. The reason is known only to you. It may have been an old schoolmate, a neighbor, a colleague, a family member, or even your aged parents. And sometimes we assume, “It’s probably just the usual call for financial help.”

But what if you knew that was the last time you would ever speak to that person? What if answering that call could have saved their life?

Pick That Call.
Pick that call!.
It may be the last time you get to hear from the person you’re ignoring.
That phone call may be a goodbye call.

I have regretted times like this in the past.

One of my elders in a former church I pastored called me several times. I was exhausted, but I finally answered.
He simply said, “It’s been long since we talked.” I didn’t know it was a goodbye call. He went to sleep that night… and that was all.

A young man from a church I pastored called repeatedly to ask for help with worsening health issues.
To be honest, I had a lot on my plate at the time. I asked, “Can your pastors over there help?” He replied, “Pastor, you are different.” Unfortunately, the day I called back to help, I was told he had died the day before. I still remember him saying, “If you don’t help me, I may die.”

Recently my wife was talking over the phone with her cousin sister. She whispered to me that her cousin wanted to say hello to me. I told I was going to call her on my own. I never did. The next week I was told that her cousin had passed on.

Very sad stories. But this is the truth.
What would you do if you knew that call was the last call you would ever receive from that person?

Please, pick the call.
It may be the last call you will ever receive from that person.

Shalom!

PRIORITIZE YOUR RELATIONSHIP

The older I become, the more I realize why I must prioritize certain relationships in my life.
There are relationships that deserve value, and even first place, in my life.

We have biological relationships, marital relationships, childhood relationships, school relationships, social relationships, career/workplace relationships, professional relationships, and religious relationships.

Some relationships are seasonal, some are reasonal, some are transactional, some are translational, positional, or even contractual.
No relationship remains the same throughout our lives — except the ones we choose to prioritize.

Childhood friends do not always remain friends. With time, even the best of friends can become strangers. As you grow, you must weigh, calculate, and discern which relationships truly matter at each phase of your life. At every stage, there are important relationships that must be valued. Those are the ones you must prioritize.

To prioritize is to give value to the relationships that matter most to you — and to where you are heading in life. It is about giving and adding value to those relationships.

A married person cannot prioritize a relationship with an ex over their spouse.
A man in his years of wisdom must give priority to his family and close relationships. A man who is obsessed with ambition may sacrifice his loved ones for his career, only to end up with no one to stand with him in the solitary years of his life.

You cannot keep hanging out "with the boys in the hood" forever. Everyone eventually finds their lane and their pace in life. Purpose, plans, pursuits and priorities will definitely bring a shift in your relationships as you grow in life.

Only the relationships that matter to you deserve your attention, time, energy, resources, and commitment. Be wise enough to know when not to invest yourself in casual, toxic, energy-draining, resource-consuming, time-wasting, and destiny-destroying relationships.

Shalom!

Some DOORS (opportunities) may open for you in life by CONNECTIONS but it will require your COMMITMENT to keep them open.

Connections may give you a job but commitment will keep you in the job.

Connections may open the door to relationship but commitment will keep the relationship.

Connections may give you customers but commitment will keep your customers.

Be CONSISTENT in your commitments to the doors God has opened in your life.

HAVE A BLESSED DAY!!

THE FORERUNNER MANDATE

_“The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the LORD; make straight in the desert a highway for our God’” – Isaiah 40:3_

The world loves self-promotion. Everyone wants to announce their own arrival, blow their own trumpet, and crown themselves.
God’s principle is different. He chooses a person to announce, prepare the way, and honor someone else. It’s humbling, yet deeply honorable. It requires dealing with ego and self-importance.

John the Baptist was chosen by God to play this role for Jesus Christ. A forerunner is a proclaimer, a herald, an advance messenger sent to clear obstacles and pave the way for the coming King.

In God’s kingdom, no one blows their own trumpet. The Trumpeter and the One being announced are both equal and important. The one who announces the King receives equal honor. Forerunners are called to announce new dispensations, new eras, and new moves of God.

In kingdom matters, you cannot be both the arriver and the announcer. John the Baptist understood his God-given assignment: to make a straight path for the Lord. God often chooses people for assignments that look humbling to humans, but carry divine honor.

This mandate isn’t limited to ministry. God has instituted the forerunner’s role in every sphere of life:
- Fathers are forerunners to their children.
- Coaches are forerunners to athletes.
- Teachers are forerunners to students.

The honor for all of them lies in understanding and fulfilling their role well.

May we all receive the grace to be faithful forerunners for the generations coming after us.

Shalom!
