In the 3rd century, Rome was plagued by the tyrannical rule of Emperor Claudius II, who was desperate to bolster his army. Claudius II held the notion that single men were more effective soldiers than their married counterparts, leading him to outlaw marriage for young men.

Love had become a forbidden act.

Valentine, a courageous priest, chose to defy the emperor's edict. In secrecy, he continued to unite Christian couples in matrimony.

Valentine firmly believed that love was not a vulnerability, but rather a sacred bond that transcended human authority. His conviction ultimately led to his arrest and imprisonment.
