It is deeply painful to hear of your sudden passing, even more so knowing you were preparing for your wedding this April.
Life’s fragility is truly overwhelming.

My last meeting with you was during the Aguata Youths Business and Leadership Summit 2.0, where we exchanged warm pleasantries never imagining it would be our final conversation.

You carried yourself with calmness, humility, and the grace of a true gentleman.

PROCESSION IN HONOUR OF LATE MISS NWAKALOR CHINECHETAM PREVAIL

Earlier today, we held a procession in honour of our late coursemate, Nwakalor Chinechetam Prevail, who died on Sunday, 30th April, 2023.

Until her demise, Miss Chetam was a 400L student of Criminology and Security Studies, and was known for her humility, beauty, hardwork, and dedication to her studies.

Greetings everyone,

The recent fire incident at Ochanja and its environs was really a sad day for Anambra. Lives were painfully cut short, goods destroyed and families devastated. Social media has been flooded with horrific pictures of the damage and despair. Different stories and accounts from victims recounting their losses and hoping for a miracle.

Thankfully, several spirited individuals, NGOs and other groups have come to the aid of some of the victims, while plans are in place by the government and private organisers to properly document all those affected by the inferno and the extent of their loss. This as we expect, will see to a well targeted intervention to ameliorate the pain.

While we await the outcome of these efforts, please allow me to bring forward the special case of my former student, Mr Obinna Dominic Nkwonta, a gentle, quiet and easygoing young man, who graduated in 2012 (2009 reg no).

Like most youth of this country, survival after graduation was a huge challenge for Obinna. After unsuccessful attempts to secure a job, he opted to venture into business. He tried and didn't pull through at the first attempt in Electrical trade. He then moved to shoes and footware products which was favourable and saw him rising steadily before disaster struck.

I got this sad news yesterday evening and have been troubled since then. Please my good people, we know how difficult things are in the country at the moment. In fact, almost everyone is in need of some sort of assistance. I however appeal to you to come to the aid of this young man who has no where else to go.

Anything from you can go a long way in saving him and others with similar cases from their misery. Periodic reports will be made to update us all on contributions received with the corresponding appreciation.

We have , i now appeal to us to match our prayers with action and may the good Lord reward you as you do so.

It was indeed a meritorious celebration and convergence at the Inauguration Ceremony of Hon. Barr. Vincent Ekene Ofumelu as Member Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency of Anambra state. The ceremony witnessed the presence of old friends, colleagues and reputable persons across all sectors of governance and polity

According to our source, the victory celebration of Hon. Vincent Ofumelu noticed the vibrant attendance of Anambra state University (Now Odumegu Ojukwu University) Alumni students who have achieved commendable feats in their different fields of endeavour.

They applauded and celebrated Hon. Vincent, as one their own who have done exceptionally well to have emerged winner at the 2019 Federal House of Representatives election in Anambra state.

Hon.Ofumelu started his political career as a student of the reknowned Anambra state University. As a law student and member of National Association of Nigeria Student (NANS), Hon. Vincent was a student Activist and an exceptional legal luminary.

Members of NANS also appreciated him for his political achievements overtime. However, Hon. Vincent thanked and appreciated the convergence and the time which Anambra state University Alumni and members of National Association of Nigeria Students. He noted that his government and leadership will be youth inclusive and open to idealistic contributions from innovative and creative youths.

O God our help in ages past, our hopes for years to come, our help while the stormy blast and our defense is sure.

What i say unto the lord all i have to say is thank you Lord.

By the special grace of God, yours sincerely has just been pronounced a Reader(Associate Professor) of Political Science by the A&PC of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University.

I am most grateful to God almighty for his mercies . My gratitude goes to Prof Greg Nwakoby, who God used to rescue me from the machinations of enemies of progress. As always i am grateful to my mentor Prof Elo Amucheazi ,who as my B.Sc project supervisor at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, initiated me into this thankless but fulfilling job of teaching and research. In those early days of my career Prof. Elo Amucheazi would call me up at night just to ensure that i was not sleeping but reading my books. My maternal uncle Prof Ben Nwabueze(SAN) has remained a veritable source of inspiration and support not only to me but to all the descendants of the Nwogene Nwabueze family.In fact his level of intellectualism and sound contribution to the field of constitutional law has continued to spur me to greater heights. My teachers at different levels of my educational pursuit cannot be forgotten particularly Prof Rotimi Suberu who supervised my M.Sc thesis at the University of Ibadan and Rt. Rev Prof. Israel Okoye who supervised my Phd thesis at Nnamdi Azikiwe University. My Colleagues, friends, former students and siblings are also not forgotten. My wife and kids who have learnt to put up with the long spells of silence and solitude that pervade our home just to ensure that i concentrate to do my work is greatly appreciated. I look forward to my inaugural when i can do a detailed acknowledgement. It can only be God

CHUKWUEMEKA ODUMEGWU OJUKWU Memorial Lecture 2018.

Topic: BETWEEN FORCE OF REASON AND REASON FOR FORCE: LEGACY OF CHUKWUEMEKA ODUMEGWU OJUKWU.

The topic of the first Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Memorial Lecture to be delivered by Professor Chidi Anselem Odinkalu, a renowned human rights lawyer, activist, and academic, who until November 2015 was the Chairman of National Human Rights Commission.
Born to the family of late Augustine Sochukwuma Odinkalu, in Umuhu-Okabia, in Orsu LGA, Imo State, he was admitted to the Bar, November 3, 1988 along with Babatunde Fashola, Godswill Akpabio, Pius Anyim, Liyel Imoke, Nnia Nwodo, and other notable individuals.
Chidi Odinkalu holds a PhD in law from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He is a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
Prior to joining the staff of Open Society Justice Initiative, Odinkalu was a lecturer at Harvard Law School, Cambridge, Massachusetts, one time Senior Legal Officer responsible for Africa and Middle East at the International Centre for the Legal Protection of Human Rights in London, Human Rights Advisor to the United Nations Observer Mission in Sierra Leone, and Brandeis International Fellow at the Centre for Ethics, Justice and Public Life, of the Brandeis University, Waltham, Massachusetts.
Odinkalu is widely published on diverse subjects of international law, international economic and human rights law, public policy and political economy affecting African countries.
He is frequently called upon to advise multilateral and bilateral institutions on Africa-related policy, including the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, the African Union, the Economic Community of West African States, and the World Economic Forum.
Odinkalu has extensive networks across Africa, built up over several years of working for human rights and social justice on the continent.
He is associated with several nongovernmental and academic institutions within and outside Africa.
Among other affiliations, Odinkalu is a member of the Human Rights Advisory Council of the Carnegie Council on Ethics and International Affairs, of the Boards of the Fund for Global Human Rights and of the International Refugee Rights Initiative. He is also the Founder of the Section on Public Interest and Development Law at the Nigerian Bar, and member of the Nigerian Bar Association.
Odinkalu almost singlehandedly raised the profile of Nigeria's human rights body, daring to confront the same government that appointed him, standing still on the side of the civil society, even at risk to life.
After observing for four years as the Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, Chidi Odinkalu, a man known for going where many before him wouldn't dare has a lot to say:
~> There are no perfect societies. In Nigeria, I continue to be shocked by two things: our tolerance for extra judicial executions and the scope of domestic and sexual violence. Both are epidemic that we clothe with denial.
~> The fundamental issues with the Nigerian State are not a matter of laws, but a matter of the men to make the laws work.

This is the man we shall be privileged to listen to as he dwells on the topic " Between Force of Reason and Reason for Force: Legacy of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.
It promises to be an intellectual harvest.
