HAPPY INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD.
Yesterday, I had the joy of celebrating our girls here in Ahoada East.

This year's theme says it all: "End Child Marriage; Invest in Girls' Rights."
A girl is not a bride-in-waiting. She is a future doctor, teacher, engineer, leader and change-maker. Let her learn. Let her grow. Let her dream.

I'm grateful to everyone who stood with us:
- The Deputy Chairman of Ahoada East LGA
- FIDA, Ahoada East Branch
- The Director of Education
- The Women Leaders of APC and PDP

As we step into this new month and mark another year of our nation’s freedom, I join you in thanking God for His mercies over our communities, our families, our State and our Nation.
May this new month usher in peace, progress, good health, and greater unity for all of us.

Ahoada East came alive for World Breastfeeding Week 2026.
From the rally to the practical breastfeeding demonstration, and my charge to mothers on exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months — it was powerful.
Theme: “Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthening What Works.”
Together, we are building healthier futures for our children.

Today in Ahoada, something beautiful unfolded.

It began with a vibrant rally — mothers, health workers, and community leaders marching with one clear message: every child deserves the best start in life.

At the Model Primary Health Centre, the programme opened with prayer. Then came a powerful talk on this year’s theme: “Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthening What Works.”

The official flag-off followed, complete with a practical demonstration on proper breastfeeding techniques. Mothers watched closely, asking questions, learning, and smiling with new confidence.

As First Lady of Ahoada East, I had the privilege of charging the women present. I encouraged every mother to exclusively breastfeed her baby for the first six months — no water, no other food, just pure breast milk. It is free, it is complete, and it is the foundation of a healthy life.

Gifts were shared with the mothers, and we closed in prayer, grateful for the day and hopeful for the future.

This is more than an event. It is a commitment to our children and to generations yet unborn.

Together, we will keep strengthening what works.

Theme: “Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthening What Works.”

Join us at Model Primary Health Centre, Ahoada from 1st–7th August. Rally/Flag-Off is tomorrow, Thursday 6th August at 10:00 a.m.

Let us protect, promote and support breastfeeding for healthier babies and stronger communities.

Today, as I celebrate another year of life, my heart overflows with gratitude to God Almighty, my loving husband Solomon Abuba, our dear children, and the wonderful people of Ahoada East for your endless love, prayers, and support.
