A LEGACY OF IMPACT, INTEGRITY, AND SERVICE: DR. DONALD PETERSON HOSTS HIGHER EVERYDAY BRITISH SCHOOL STAKEHOLDERS IN AGBOR
In a moment that blended gratitude with purposeful leadership, an address delivered by Dr. Raymond Imafidon, Founder and Proprietor of Higher Everyday British School (HEBS), once again illuminated the remarkable contributions and enduring influence of Dr. Donald Onyeibe Peterson in advancing education and community development across Ika Federal Constituency.
The address, presented today at the Agbor residence of Dr. Peterson during a courtesy visit by HEBS stakeholders, was far more than ceremonial. It stood as a powerful testament to a man whose commitment to societal progress continues to translate into visible and lasting impact.
From the outset, Dr. Imafidon expressed sincere appreciation to Dr. Peterson for warmly hosting the delegation, describing the engagement as both symbolic and strategic. The gathering brought together key stakeholders in an atmosphere defined by mutual respect, shared vision, and a collective commitment to educational excellence. As a patron of HEBS, Dr. Peterson has played a pivotal role in guiding the institution’s growth, particularly in promoting integrity, discipline, and administrative excellence.
Reflecting on the humble beginnings of HEBS in September 2022, Dr. Imafidon highlighted the school’s founding vision—to build a co-educational institution grounded in global best practices, moral discipline, and academic excellence. Today, that vision is steadily materializing, owing in no small part to the encouragement, guidance, and unwavering support of Dr. Peterson.
Over time, Dr. Peterson has demonstrated consistent commitment—not only through his presence at school functions but also through generous moral and financial support. Hosting stakeholders in his home further underscores his humility, accessibility, and genuine dedication to initiatives that uplift society. His influence continues to inspire both staff and students, reinforcing a culture rooted in excellence, integrity, and service.
A major highlight of the engagement was the recognition of HEBS as an official West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Centre. This milestone represents a significant advancement for the institution, enabling students to sit for their examinations within the school environment and eliminating the challenges associated with external centers. For a relatively young institution, this achievement speaks volumes about its rapid growth and strong leadership foundation.
Academically, HEBS has continued to distinguish itself. In the 2024/2025 academic session, the school recorded an outstanding victory in a statewide quiz competition, clinching all six available awards—an achievement that underscores its commitment to intellectual excellence and competitive distinction.
Beyond the classroom, the school has embraced experiential learning, organizing educational excursions such as visits to Asaba International Airport. These initiatives broaden students’ perspectives and expose them to real-world environments, enriching their educational experience.
HEBS has also demonstrated a forward-looking vision through international collaborations. The school successfully hosted the Johnson Community Support Initiative (JCSI) Arts, Culture, and Heritage Creatives Workshop—the first of its kind for a secondary school in Nigeria. Organized in partnership with The LEAP Bradford CIC in the United Kingdom, with support from the Bradford Metropolitan District Council and Arts Council England, the program provided students with invaluable global exposure and creative empowerment.
Facilitated by Pst. Michael Okoh, the initiative also led to the establishment of a student-led Arts, Culture, and Heritage Club, further strengthening the school’s extracurricular framework and nurturing creative talents.
In its pursuit of sustained excellence, HEBS has inaugurated an Advisory Board comprising accomplished professionals and role models across diverse fields. This strategic step reflects the institution’s commitment to strong governance, mentorship, and long-term sustainability.
In his concluding remarks, Dr. Imafidon commended Dr. Peterson for his distinguished service as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Entrepreneurship Development and Empowerment—a role he executed with notable impact before voluntarily stepping down to pursue a higher calling: representing the people of Ika Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
As emphasized during the engagement at his Agbor residence, this transition is not merely political—it is a natural progression of a life dedicated to service. Dr. Peterson’s aspiration is firmly anchored in his proven track record of empowering individuals, strengthening institutions, and championing community development.
His decision to host and personally engage stakeholders within his home reflects a leadership philosophy grounded in openness, accessibility, and people-centered governance. It reinforces the idea that true leadership is not distant, but present—deeply connected to the everyday realities of the people.
The message from HEBS stakeholders was clear and unequivocal: Dr. Donald Peterson is not just a leader of promise, but a leader of proven impact—one whose actions inspire confidence in a future of even greater service.
As Ika Nation looks ahead to 2027, the narrative surrounding Dr. Peterson continues to gain momentum—not through rhetoric, but through a legacy defined by meaningful engagement, consistent support, and unwavering dedication to the people.
Indeed, the seeds he has sown across education, empowerment, and community development are already yielding results—and the future holds the promise of an even greater harvest.
