But very few realize how much being organized can boost their chances of landing a job.

1. Be prepared before the opportunity shows up.
Have your CV, cover letter, and LinkedIn profile updated, not just when you see a job post.

2. Track your job applications.
Use a notebook, spreadsheet, Notion, or Trello to know which jobs you applied for, when, and what’s next.

3. Don't lose jobs to disorganization.

Whenever you see a professional or an expert at something display their skills effortlessly, remember that they were not always like that. They were once rookies. Their level of mastery is partly a result of the invested time and effort to refine and sharpen those skills to the best forms possible.

Don't be carried away by the idea that you don't have what it takes to achieve such mastery. Also, do not arrogantly belittle their expertise, believing it is easy. Remember, it looks easy because they are experts.

You can start your journey to the mastery of any skill that you want. Taking the first step is crucial. After that first step, seek guided knowledge, apply the knowledge, devote focused time, and continue to put in all the effort it requires.

Learning a new skill does take time, beginners may be discouraged by the time required to learn something new and therefore continue to push forward with the excuse that there is no time. It would always seem that you can't create the time required to start something and if you don't, that length of time will still come and pass.

Make time today to start learning something that can advance your career and add to your skills. Prioritize continually improving your skills until you become an expert in the areas that give you the most reward.
