Real classroom stories and reflections from Ms Jojo, an Early Years Educator.

Today, something happened in my class 😄

I have five girls in my class whom I fondly call my Committee of Friends ❤️
They are confident, expressive, and surprisingly mature for their age.
The kind of children who speak with seriousness and always seem to have something important to discuss 😄
They carry themselves like little leaders in the classroom.
Most times, they don’t wait to be told what to do they already understand the routine and take responsibility in their own way.

Today, they were having a very serious meeting.
You should have seen them so focused, listening to each other like real executives.
One of them was even sitting on my chair the one I use when sitting with them 😅
I watched for a while, then I called them closer and asked, “What are you guys discussing?”
One of them quickly responded and said:
“Ms Josephine, I’m innocent.”
I paused.
Innocent? 😂
I asked, “What does it mean to be innocent?”
And she replied so seriously:
“When you did not say anything.”
I laughed 😄
I tried asking more questions, but they were not ready to reveal the full details of their meeting.
And honestly… I didn’t push it.
Because moments like this?
Pure gold.
The confidence.
The seriousness.
And the innocence behind their “big grammar.” 🤣🤣
One of the many reasons I love the early years.

To my Nursery One Emerald parents ❤️

The projects our children came back with after the Midterm Break were beautiful! 👏✨

Your effort and support truly showed, and I appreciate the time and love you put into helping your children.

Thank you for always showing up. 💕

Real classroom struggle 😅
Getting children to eat their food these days is a whole mission on its own.
Some days, I have to say,
“The big bad wolf is outside waiting for children that are not eating…” 🐺
Other days, it’s stickers as motivation.
And on some days, I simply say,
“Anyone who finishes their food can go to the playground.”
The speed at which they suddenly start eating ehn… you will just be amazed 😂
Honestly, it can be a struggle, but also funny at the same time.
This is something we see a lot with children in this generation many need encouragement, motivation, and a little creativity to eat on their own.
In school, we try our best to build their independence, especially since we have many children to attend to at once.
Dear parents, what tricks do you use to get your children to eat their food? 😅

Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing mothers. 🌸
Working with children every day reminds me how important mothers truly are. Sometimes in class, a child will say something like, “My mom told me…” or “My mom said I should try again.”
In those little moments, you can see the love, guidance, and encouragement mothers pour into their children.
Mothers are truly a child’s first teacher, shaping their confidence, kindness, and values long before they step into a classroom.
Today we celebrate every mother for the love, patience, and sacrifices you make every single day.
Happy Mother’s Day💝💝

Real classroom moment yesterday 😅
During our revision class, I introduced a new topic: Confidence.
We talked about what confidence means, watched a short video, and even did some role-playing. One of the things I emphasized was maintaining eye contact when speaking.
Later, I started asking questions to see what everyone remembered.
One child raised his hand very confidently and said:
“Maintain eye contraction.”
I tried to stay serious… but I couldn’t help laughing. 😂
Of course, I corrected it afterwards. But moments like this remind me how children make learning both funny and memorable.
Classroom life is truly an adventure every day.

A small classroom reflection today…
Children know when they are struggling.
And sometimes, without realizing it, adults talk about it right in front of them.
But children are always listening.
Encouragement builds confidence, and a few kind words can shape how a child sees themselves.
Let’s keep building confident learners, one kind word at a time. 🌱

This week, my school held an exciting Sports Festival filled with fun activities and wonderful moments for the children. 🎉
Before I share the children’s sports activities, here’s a fun moment with the amazing staff who made the day possible. 😄💪
Female staff vs Male staff in a tug of war… and the ladies carried the day! 🎉”

Every morning, when my children come into class, there’s a routine.
They walk in, greet and hug me at the same time.
Hugs first.
Then they go to their bags and bring out their books.
That’s how we start our day.
This morning, after the hug, one of my learners brought out her books and casually said:
“Ms Jojo, do you know my auntie bought another phone again?”
Just like that.
No introduction.
No background story 😄
I smiled and said, “Oh really?”
And that was how my morning began.
Honestly, this isn’t new.
Almost every day comes with updates from the children:
“My auntie bought a new dress.”
“My mummy’s birthday is today.”
“My daddy bought a new car.”
“My baby brother is sick.”
“My baby is no longer in my mummy’s tummy.”
It reminded me of something I once saw online:
“If you have a child in the early years, just know that all your house gist is with the teacher.”
Parents, please don’t panic 😂
Your secrets are safe with Ms Jojo 🤣🤣🤣

🔖 FINAL BADGE: One Child, One Team
At the heart of every conversation about teachers, discipline, or school is one child—listening, learning, and forming beliefs.
Children don’t just hear our words.
They absorb our tone.
They adopt our attitudes.
They act on what they believe we approve.
When home and school work against each other, children feel confused and unsafe.
When home and school work together, children feel secure, confident, and supported.
Concerns will always arise and that’s okay.
But how we handle them matters.
Let us protect children from adult conflicts.
Let us speak with wisdom, respect, and intention.
Let us model the kind of behaviour we hope to see in them.
Because children thrive best when the adults in their lives stand united.
Thank you for reading this series with an open heart 💕
