ETC Network - Embrace The Child

ETC Network - Embrace The Child Every child deserves a happy and healthy childhood. The Etc Network aims to support ongoing projects that strive to ensure just that. Embrace! Embrace the child!

A group of friends in Abuja have come together to create a network to support child-oriented projects. The idea was developed based on two existing projects that the group wished to raise awareness about, and support in different ways:

1. The Vine Heritage Home, where, since 2004, two Nigerian missionaries have been taking care of children they rescued from infanticide. These children were born i

nto communities within the FCT, where traditional beliefs dictate that children whose mother dies during childbirth or lactation - as well as twins, albinos, and any child with an apparent deformity or handicap - must be the manifestation of evil spirits. The children are therefore slaughtered or left to die of hunger and dehydration. The missionaries feed, clothe and send these kids to school, 92 of them at the last count!

2. Hope Eden (http://www.hope-eden.org/), founded in 1997 by a Nigerian Mathematics teacher and a German Nurse/Mid-wife, is a farm and a community school in Kuje, FCT, for children from neighbouring villages. This academic year, the Hope Eden Primary School houses approximately 130 children. The ETC Network admires the work carried out by these initiatives, and wishes to provide them with support in many and diverse ways. So, whether you want to be a core member of the network, or just support sporadically during events, spread the word and join us. Etc....any other project on the horizon?

Experts don’t know how many Cross River gorillas remain in the mountain cluster and have been trying to track the subspecies for some time.

Khadijat, one of my dearest friends and colleague works with Victims of Violence. I wish could do as much for her project as she does for Hope Eden. I call upon my friends to join in.

Our wonderful Dr. Ugo and Dr. George, providing medical screenings and meds to the students of Hope Eden Community School. These kids, despite being fortunate enough to receive an education from this outstanding school, rarely have access to appropriate medical services. Our doctors went to great lengths to make this intervention worthwhile, and we really appreciate them, and you who supported us financially and allowed us to procure these medical goods. Thank you

Many of us want to park our cars under the tree, but we have never made an attempt to plant a tree. These kids are different. They planted trees yesterday at the Vine Heritage Home, Kuje-Abuja. So, plant a tree today . ...every child deserves to be happy and healthy
