If you have a 3-5 year old, come closer.

Your child is at such a beautiful stage of development, and books can do so much more than teach ABCs.

This is the age when their vocabulary is exploding.

They're asking “Why?” about everything.

They're learning to express themselves, understand emotions, follow stories, listen, remember, imagine and make sense of the world around them.

And books give you a beautiful way to support all of it.

👉Read them stories and let them tell you what they think happened.

👉Point at pictures and ask questions.

👉Introduce new words.

👉Let them finish familiar sentences.

👉Ask, “What do you think will happen next?”

👉Talk about how the characters feel.

👉Let them choose the book they want.

👉Read the same favourite story again, and again, and AGAIN. 😂

You're not wasting time.

You're building language, vocabulary, listening, comprehension, imagination, attention and confidence.

You're also helping your child discover something incredibly important:

👉Learning can be fun.

And please don't make the mistake of thinking, “My child will read when they get to school.”

Yes, school will teach them how to read.

But what you do at home before and alongside that process matters too.

A child who has spent years hearing stories, handling books, looking at pictures, learning new words and enjoying reading with a parent isn't meeting books for the first time when they enter the classroom.

🔹They already know that books are interesting.

🔹They already know that stories are exciting.

🔹They already know that sitting with a book can be enjoyable.

So if you have a 3-5 year old, this is not the time to wait.

This is the time to read.

This is the time to build the habit.

This is the time to make books a normal part of childhood.

Don't just prepare your child for school.
Help them develop a love for learning.

And sometimes, all it takes is one good book, your voice, and 10-15 minutes together every day.
