FRUIT OF A PIONEER RESIDENT: DR OSEDEBAMEN OAMEN'S NEW BOOK -THE TRAVAIL OF AN ACTRESS (DRAMA)

Warmest congratulations to Dr. Osedebamen David Oamen (Pioneer Resident, 2025) on the successful publication of his new book, *The Travail of an Actress (Drama).

This remarkable achievement stands as a testament of his dedication to the literary arts and the power of creative immersion. This work was completed during the maiden edition of the ANA Ken Saro-Wiwa International Writers' Residency in 2025, which makes it even more significant, reflecting both the depth of his craft and the impact of such visionary platforms on storytelling and cultural expression.

His contribution not only enriches contemporary drama but also strengthens the voice of African literature on the global stage. The submission of a copy to the *ANA Yusuf Ali Library and Research Centre* further ensures that his work will continue to inspire scholars, writers, and readers for generations to come.

Wishing him continued success, wider readership, and many more groundbreaking works ahead.

The Book: "The Travail of an Actress" exemplified the grip of a husband's intolerance and emotional discomfort wrapped with tradition in attempt to void the professional choice of his wife who has been an actress. The actress stood her ground, having gained support within her husband's family and friends who understood the implications of punishing and de-professionalizing the actress for kissing on stage in the cause of playing her role as a wife has more implications for her budding actresses.

The free legal, moral and social support, particularly the delivery of unbiased justice enabled the travail of the Actress. The victory achieved is not only for the actress but for the future of the budding professional actresses. The revelations that were discharged within this drama are strong enough to sustain the future of actress as well as void intending threats against actresses.
