3 REASONS WHY THE SHIFT FROM PCOS TO PMOS MATTERS FOR MENSTRUAL LITERACY
At Menstrualdemy, we believe that education equals dignity. And true dignity starts with accurate knowledge.
That is why the global medical shift from PCOS (Polycystic O***y Syndrome) to PMOS (Polycystic Metabolic and Endocrine Syndrome) is a massive win for menstrual health.
Here is why this name change matters for every girl, woman and educator in our community and every other space:
Validating Real Experiences
The old name made so many feel "broken" if they had the symptoms but clear ultrasounds. PMOS removes the focus from just "cysts" and validates what individuals actually experience.
Sharper, Faster Diagnosis
By putting "Metabolic" and "Endocrine" in the name, we direct healthcare providers exactly where to look. No more being dismissed because an ultrasound looks "clear."
A Holistic View of Cycle Health
This expands our education past basic period tracking. It connects the dots between our cycles and our entire systemic health including insulin levels, energy and metabolic wellbeing.
The Bottom Line
We cannot solve or treat what we do not correctly name. This change marks a more inclusive, informed and dignified era for reproductive health education.
How do you feel about the transition to PMOS?
Let’s talk about it in the comments below!

Most parents wait until it’s too late to talk about periods. Why?
Usually, it is because we think they are "too young" or we are just too awkward to find the right words.

Stop "winging it" and start empowering her.
Our Period Prep 101 online course is designed to take the stress off your shoulders.
We provide the scripts, the biology made simple, and the practical "how-to" so you don’t have to.

STOP TREATING YOUR PERIOD LIKE A BIOHAZARD
We have been conditioned to hide our pads in our sleeves and whisper about “that time of the month.” But why?
For centuries, myths and ancient taboos labeled menstrual blood as “unclean” or “impure.” This wasn’t based on science, it was a tool for social control.
The truth? Your period isn’t a "waste disposal" system. It is a biological masterpiece made of stem cells, nutrients and the very lining meant to nourish life.
When we label our blood as “dirty,” we stop looking at it.
And when we stop looking, we miss the critical health red flags like changes in color, texture and flow that tell us what is happening with our hormones, our fertility and our overall well-being.
It is time to unlearn the stigma and start reading your body’s monthly report card.
Are you making silent mistakes with your menstrual health?
Don't let myths compromise your wellness.
Our E-book, “30 Menstrual & Menopause Mistakes Silently Hurting Women,” breaks down the science you were never taught in school.

Some people enroll into our Menstrual Business School Program (MBS) to learn how to build income and opportunities through menstrual health.
Others enroll because they want to create real change in their communities, to educate, to break stigma and to ensure no girl is left behind.
Both paths matter.
Both are powerful.
And truthfully… they often intersect.
Because when menstrual health is done right,
It doesn’t just create impact.
It creates opportunity.
And when opportunity is built with intention, it multiplies impact.
So the question is:
Which are you?
The one looking to and needing a foundation or practical skills to build a sustainable menstrual health business?
Or the one determined to drive education and community transformation?
Or maybe… you are ready to become both.
At Menstrualdemy, we believe menstrual health can be more than a conversation.
It can be a pathway to dignity, income, leadership and lasting change.
Your journey starts with a decision.

She willingly enrolled her 7-year-old daughter in our Period Prep 101 Course yesterday… but not without asking a very important question:
‘Isn’t it too early for her to learn about menstruation?'
The truth is, it is not too early.
It is actually right on time.
At Menstrualdemy, we understand that introducing menstruation to a 7-year-old must be done with care, clarity and sensitivity.
That is why our Period Prep 101 Course is designed to be fully age-appropriate (age 7-10 years).
We don’t overwhelm them with complex biology; instead, we focus on helping them understand their bodies in simple, safe and confidence-building ways.
More importantly, the age at which girls begin menstruation (menarche) is gradually reducing globally.
Research shows that some girls now start their periods as early as 8 years old, influenced by factors like nutrition, environmental changes and overall health patterns.
So the real question is no longer “Is it too early?” but rather,
“Will she be prepared when it happens?”
Because when a girl experiences her first period without prior knowledge, it can lead to fear, confusion and even shame.
But when she is prepared, she feels informed, confident and in control.
We believe preparation is not about rushing childhood.
it is about protecting it.
